REVELATION · Day 14 of 21
The Final Judgment
1 · READ THE TEXT
Revelation 20:11-15
Revelation 20:11-15
Open in the reader →11And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
2 · UNDERSTAND
The great white throne: earth and sky flee, and the books are opened — those of deeds and the Book of Life. The scene is sober, without spectacle. Everyone is judged "according to what they had done", and yet salvation depends on being written in the Lamb's book. Both truths run through all of Scripture: life genuinely matters, and nobody is saved by their own résumé. It is before this throne that Christian hope stops being vague optimism: there will be a real reckoning, and no injustice will be forgotten or left unanswered.

4 · LIVE AND PRAY
Practical application
Is there something you would do differently if you knew it was on record? Make that correction today, while there is time.
Lesson prayer
Just God, write my name in the Book of Life through the blood of Christ, and may my life not contradict my faith. Amen.
