1 Clemente 10

1Abraão, que foi chamado o 'amigo', foi achado fiel por ter prestado obediência às palavras de Deus.

1Abraham, who was called the 'friend,' was found faithful in that he rendered obedience unto the words of God.

2Ele, por obediência, saiu da sua terra e do seu parentesco e da casa de seu pai, para que, deixando uma terra escassa e um parentesco frágil e uma casa humilde, herdasse as promessas de Deus.

2He through obedience went forth from his land and from his kindred and from his father's house, that leaving a scanty land and a feeble kindred and a mean house he might inherit the promises of God.

3Pois Ele lhe diz: Sai da tua terra e do teu parentesco e da casa de teu pai para a terra que te mostrarei, e farei de ti uma grande nação, e te abençoarei e engrandecerei o teu nome, e serás uma bênção. E abençoarei os que te abençoarem, e amaldiçoarei os que te amaldiçoarem; e em ti serão benditas todas as tribos da terra.

3For He saith unto him Go forth from thy land and from thy kindred and from thy father's house unto the land which I shall show thee, and I will make thee into a great nation, and I will bless thee and will magnify thy name, and thou shalt be blessed. And I will bless them that bless thee, and I will curse them that curse thee; and in thee shall all the tribes of the earth be blessed.

4E de novo, quando ele se separou de Ló, Deus lhe disse: Levanta os teus olhos e olha, do lugar onde agora estás, para o norte e para o sul e para o nascente e para o mar; pois toda a terra que vês, eu a darei a ti e à tua semente para sempre;

4And again, when he was parted from Lot, God said unto him Look up with thine eyes, and behold from the place where thou now art, unto the north and the south and the sunrise and the sea; for all the land which thou seest, I will give it unto thee and to thy seed for ever;

5e farei a tua semente como o pó da terra. Se alguém puder contar o pó da terra, então também a tua semente será contada.

5and I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth. If any man can count the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be counted.

6E de novo diz: Deus conduziu Abraão para fora e lhe disse: Olha para o céu e conta as estrelas, e vê se podes numerá-las. Assim será a tua semente. E Abraão creu em Deus, e isso lhe foi atribuído como justiça.

6And again He saith; God led Abraham forth and said unto him, Look up unto the heaven and count the stars, and see whether thou canst number them. So shall thy seed be. And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness.

7Por causa da sua fé e hospitalidade foi-lhe dado um filho na velhice, e por obediência ele o ofereceu em sacrifício a Deus num dos montes que Ele lhe mostrou.

7For his faith and hospitality a son was given unto him in old age, and by obedience he offered him a sacrifice unto God on one of the mountains which He showed him.
