1 Clemente 16

1Pois Cristo está com os que são humildes de mente, não com os que se exaltam sobre o rebanho.

1For Christ is with them that are lowly of mind, not with them that exalt themselves over the flock.

2O cetro da majestade de Deus, nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, não veio com pompa de arrogância ou de orgulho, embora pudesse tê-lo feito, mas com humildade de mente, conforme o Espírito Santo falou a Seu respeito.

2The scepter of the majesty of God, even our Lord Jesus Christ, came not in the pomp of arrogance or of pride, though He might have done so, but in lowliness of mind, according as the Holy Spirit spake concerning Him.

3Pois diz: Senhor, quem creu no nosso relato? e a quem foi revelado o braço do Senhor? Anunciamo-Lo na Sua presença. Como criança foi Ele, como raiz em terra seca. Não há forma n'Ele, nem glória. E O contemplamos, e não tinha forma nem beleza, mas a Sua forma era humilde, carecendo mais do que a forma dos homens. Era um homem de açoites e de dor, e que sabia suportar a enfermidade: pois o Seu rosto está desviado. Foi desonrado e tido em nada.

3For He saith Lord, who believed our report? and to whom was the arm of the Lord revealed? We announced Him in His presence. As a child was He, as a root in a thirsty ground. There is no form in Him, neither glory. And we beheld Him, and He had no form nor comeliness, but His form was mean, lacking more than the form of men. He was a man of stripes and of toil, and knowing how to bear infirmity: for His face is turned away. He was dishonored and held of no account.

4Ele leva os nossos pecados e sofre dor por nossa causa: e nós O considerávamos em dor e em açoites e em aflição.

4He beareth our sins and suffereth pain for our sakes: and we accounted Him to be in toil and in stripes and in affliction.

5E foi ferido pelos nossos pecados e foi afligido pelas nossas iniquidades. O castigo da nossa paz está sobre Ele. Com as Suas pisaduras fomos curados.

5And He was wounded for our sins and hath been afflicted for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace is upon Him. With His bruises we were healed.

6Todos nos desviamos como ovelhas, cada um se desviou pelo seu próprio caminho:

6We all went astray like sheep, each man went astray in his own path:

7e o Senhor O entregou pelos nossos pecados. E Ele não abre a Sua boca, porque está aflito. Como ovelha foi levado ao matadouro; e como um cordeiro diante do seu tosquiador é mudo, assim Ele não abre a Sua boca. Na Sua humilhação foi tirado o Seu juízo.

7and the Lord delivered Him over for our sins. And He openeth not His mouth, because He is afflicted. As a sheep He was led to slaughter; and as a lamb before his shearer is dumb, so openeth He not His mouth. In His humiliation His judgment was taken away.

8A Sua geração, quem a declarará? Pois a Sua vida é tirada da terra.

8His generation who shall declare? For His life is taken away from the earth.

9Pelas iniquidades do meu povo, veio à morte.

9For the iniquities of my people He is come to death.

10E darei os ímpios pela Sua sepultura, e os ricos pela Sua morte; pois não praticou iniquidade, nem se achou engano na Sua boca. E o Senhor quer purificá-Lo das Suas pisaduras.

10And I will give the wicked for His burial, and the rich for His death; for He wrought no iniquity, neither was guile found in His mouth. And the Lord desireth to cleanse Him from His stripes.

11Se oferecerdes pelo pecado, a vossa alma verá uma semente de longa vida.

11If ye offer for sin, your soul shall see a long-lived seed.

12E o Senhor quer tirar do labor da Sua alma, mostrar-Lhe a luz e formá-Lo com entendimento, para justificar um Justo que é bom servo de muitos. E Ele levará os pecados deles.

12And the Lord desireth to take away from the toil of His soul, to show Him light and to mould Him with understanding, to justify a Just One that is a good servant unto many. And He shall bear their sins.

13Por isso herdará a muitos, e repartirá os despojos dos fortes; porque a Sua alma foi entregue à morte, e foi contado entre os transgressores;

13Therefore He shall inherit many, and shall divide the spoils of the strong; because His soul was delivered unto death, and He was reckoned unto the transgressors;

14e levou os pecados de muitos, e por causa dos pecados deles foi entregue.

14and He bare the sins of many, and for their sins was He delivered up.

15E de novo Ele mesmo diz: Mas eu sou um verme e não um homem, opróbrio dos homens e desprezado do povo.

15And again He Himself saith; But I am a worm and no man, a reproach of men and an outcast of the people.

16Todos os que me viam zombavam de mim; falavam com os lábios; meneavam a cabeça, dizendo: Esperou no Senhor; que o livre, ou que o salve, pois nele se compraz.

16All they that beheld me mocked at me; they spake with their lips; they wagged their heads, saying, He hoped on the Lord; let Him deliver him, or let Him save him, for He desireth him.

17Vedes, amados, qual é o modelo que nos foi dado; pois, se o Senhor foi assim humilde de mente, que devemos fazer nós, que por meio d'Ele fomos postos sob o jugo da Sua graça?

17Ye see, dearly beloved, what is the pattern that hath been given unto us; for, if the Lord was thus lowly of mind, what should we do, who through Him have been brought under the yoke of His grace?
