1 Clemente 22

1Ora, todas estas coisas a fé que está em Cristo confirma: pois Ele mesmo, pelo Espírito Santo, assim nos convida: Vinde, filhos, ouvi-Me, ensinar-vos-ei o temor do Senhor.

1Now all these things the faith which is in Christ confirmeth: for He Himself through the Holy Spirit thus inviteth us: Come, my children, hearken unto Me, I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

2Que homem é o que deseja a vida e ama ver dias bons?

2What man is he that desireth life and loveth to see good days?

3Faze cessar a tua língua do mal, e os teus lábios, para que não falem engano.

3Make thy tongue to cease from evil, and thy lips that they speak no guile.

4Desvia-te do mal e faze o bem.

4Turn aside from evil and do good.

5Busca a paz e segue-a.

5Seek peace and ensue it.

6Os olhos do Senhor estão sobre os justos, e os Seus ouvidos atentos às suas orações. Mas a face do Senhor está contra os que fazem o mal, para lhes extirpar da terra a memória.

6The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are turned to their prayers. But the face of the Lord is upon them that do evil, to destroy their memorial from the earth.

7O justo clamou, e o Senhor o ouviu e o livrou de todas as suas angústias. Muitas são as angústias do justo, e o Senhor o livrará de todas elas.

7The righteous cried out, and the Lord heard him, and delivered him from all his troubles. Many are the troubles of the righteous, and the Lord shall deliver him from them all.

8E de novo: Muitos são os açoites do pecador, mas aos que põem a sua esperança no Senhor a misericórdia cercará.

8And again Many are the stripes of the sinner, but them that set their hope on the Lord mercy shall compass about.
