1 Clemente 33

1Que devemos fazer, então, irmãos? Devemos abster-nos ociosamente de fazer o bem e abandonar o amor? Que o Mestre jamais permita que isto nos aconteça, ao menos a nós; mas apressemo-nos, com insistência e zelo, a realizar toda boa obra.

1What then must we do, brethren? Must we idly abstain from doing good, and forsake love? May the Master never allow this to befall us at least; but let us hasten with instancy and zeal to accomplish every good work.

2Pois o próprio Criador e Mestre do universo se regozija nas Suas obras.

2For the Creator and Master of the universe Himself rejoiceth in His works.

3Pois pelo Seu excessivamente grande poder estabeleceu os céus, e na Sua incompreensível sabedoria os pôs em ordem. E a terra separou-a da água que a cerca, e firmou-a sobre o seguro fundamento da Sua própria vontade; e os seres vivos que andam sobre ela mandou que existissem por Sua ordenança. Tendo antes criado o mar e os seres vivos que nele há, encerrou-o pelo Seu próprio poder.

3For by His exceeding great might He established the heavens, and in His incomprehensible wisdom He set them in order. And the earth He separated from the water that surroundeth it, and He set it firm on the sure foundation of His own will; and the living creatures which walk upon it He commanded to exist by His ordinance. Having before created the sea and the living creatures therein, He enclosed it by His own power.

4Acima de tudo, como a mais excelente e excessivamente grande obra da Sua inteligência, com as Suas mãos sagradas e sem falha formou o homem na impressão da Sua própria imagem.

4Above all, as the most excellent and exceeding great work of His intelligence, with His sacred and faultless hands He formed man in the impress of His own image.

5Pois assim diz Deus: Façamos o homem à nossa imagem e à nossa semelhança. E Deus fez o homem; macho e fêmea os fez.

5For thus saith God Let us make man after our image and after our likeness. And God made man; male and female made He them.

6Assim, tendo terminado todas estas coisas, louvou-as e abençoou-as e disse: Crescei e multiplicai-vos.

6So having finished all these things, He praised them and blessed them and said, Increase and multiply.

7Vimos que todos os justos foram adornados em boas obras. Sim, e o próprio Senhor, tendo-Se adornado com mundos, regozijou-Se.

7We have seen that all the righteous were adorned in good works. Yea, and the Lord Himself having adorned Himself with worlds rejoiced.

8Vendo, pois, que temos este modelo, conformemo-nos com toda a diligência à Sua vontade; com todas as nossas forças pratiquemos a obra da justiça.

8Seeing then that we have this pattern, let us conform ourselves with all diligence to His will; let us with all our strength work the work of righteousness.
