1 Clemente 35

1Quão bem-aventurados e maravilhosos são os dons de Deus, amados!

1How blessed and marvelous are the gifts of God, dearly beloved!

2Vida na imortalidade, esplendor na justiça, verdade na ousadia, fé na confiança, temperança na santificação! E todas estas coisas estão ao alcance da nossa compreensão.

2Life in immortality, splendor in righteousness, truth in boldness, faith in confidence, temperance in sanctification! And all these things fall under our apprehension.

3Que coisas, pensais vós, estão preparadas para os que pacientemente O aguardam? O Criador e Pai das eras, o Santíssimo mesmo, sabe o número e a beleza delas.

3What then, think ye, are the things preparing for them that patiently await Him? The Creator and Father of the ages, the All holy One Himself knoweth their number and their beauty.

4Lutemos, pois, para que sejamos achados no número dos que pacientemente O aguardam, a fim de sermos participantes dos Seus dons prometidos.

4Let us therefore contend, that we may be found in the number of those that patiently await Him, to the end that we may be partakers of His promised gifts.

5Mas como será isto, amados? Se a nossa mente estiver fixa, pela fé, em Deus; se buscarmos as coisas que Lhe são agradáveis e aceitáveis; se realizarmos o que convém à Sua vontade sem falha, e seguirmos o caminho da verdade, lançando de nós toda injustiça e iniquidade, cobiça, contendas, malignidades e enganos, murmurações e maledicências, ódio a Deus, orgulho e arrogância, vanglória e falta de hospitalidade.

5But how shall this be, dearly beloved? If our mind be fixed through faith towards God; if we seek out those things which are well pleasing and acceptable unto Him; if we accomplish such things as beseem His faultless will, and follow the way of truth, casting off from ourselves all unrighteousness and iniquity, covetousness, strifes, malignities and deceits, whisperings and backbitings, hatred of God, pride and arrogance, vainglory and inhospitality.

6Pois os que fazem estas coisas são odiosos a Deus; e não somente os que as fazem, mas também os que consentem nelas.

6For they that do these things are hateful to God; and not only they that do them, but they also that consent unto them.

7Pois a Escritura diz: Mas ao pecador disse Deus: Por que declaras as Minhas ordenanças e tomas a Minha aliança nos teus lábios?

7For the scripture saith, But unto the sinner said God, Wherefore dost thou declare Mine ordinances, and takest My covenant upon thy lips?

8Tu, porém, aborreceste a instrução e lançaste as Minhas palavras para trás de ti. Se viste um ladrão, andaste com ele, e com os adúlteros puseste a tua porção. A tua boca multiplicou a maldade e a tua língua teceu o engano. Sentaste-te e falaste contra o teu irmão, e contra o filho de tua mãe puseste tropeço.

8Yet Thou didst hate instruction and didst cast away My words behind thee. If thou sawest a thief thou didst keep company with him, and with the adulterers thou didst set thy portion. Thy mouth multiplied wickedness and thy tongue wove deceit. Thou sattest and spakest against thy brother, and against the son of thy mother thou didst lay a stumbling block.

9Estas coisas fizeste, e Eu me calei. Pensaste, homem injusto, que Eu seria semelhante a ti.

9These things Thou hast done, and I kept silence. Thou thoughtest, unrighteous man, that I should be like unto thee.

10Repreender-te-ei e te porei face a face contigo mesmo.

10I will convict thee and will set thee face to face with thyself.

11Entendei, pois, estas coisas, vós que vos esqueceis de Deus, para que nunca vos arrebate como um leão, sem que haja quem vos livre.

11Now understand ye these things, ye that forget God, lest at any time He seize you as a lion, and there be none to deliver.

12O sacrifício de louvor Me glorificará, e ali está o caminho em que lhe mostrarei a salvação de Deus.

12The sacrifice of praise shall glorify Me, and there is the way wherein I will show him the salvation of God.
