1 Clemente 36

1Este é o caminho, amados, no qual achamos a nossa salvação, o próprio Jesus Cristo, o Sumo Sacerdote das nossas ofertas, o Guardião e Auxiliador da nossa fraqueza.

1This is the way, dearly beloved, wherein we found our salvation, even Jesus Christ the High priest of our offerings, the Guardian and Helper of our weakness.

2Por meio d'Ele olhemos fixamente para as alturas dos céus; por meio d'Ele contemplamos como num espelho o Seu semblante sem falha e excelentíssimo; por meio d'Ele foram abertos os olhos dos nossos corações; por meio d'Ele a nossa mente insensata e obscurecida brota para a luz; por meio d'Ele o Mestre quis que provássemos o conhecimento imortal, Ele que, sendo o resplendor da Sua majestade, é tanto maior do que os anjos quanto herdou um nome mais excelente.

2Through Him let us look steadfastly unto the heights of the heavens; through Him we behold as in a mirror His faultless and most excellent visage; through Him the eyes of our hearts were opened; through Him our foolish and darkened mind springeth up unto the light; through Him the Master willed that we should taste of the immortal knowledge Who being the brightness of His majesty is so much greater than angels, as He hath inherited a more excellent name.

3Pois assim está escrito: Que faz dos Seus anjos espíritos e dos Seus ministros chamas de fogo, mas do Seu Filho o Mestre disse assim: Tu és o Meu Filho, hoje Eu te gerei. Pede-Me, e dar-Te-ei as nações por herança, e os confins da terra por possessão.

3For so it is written Who maketh His angels spirits and His ministers aflame of fire but of His Son the Master said thus, Thou art My Son, I this day have begotten thee. Ask of Me, and I will give Thee the Gentiles for Thine inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Thy possession.

4E de novo lhe diz: Assenta-Te à Minha direita, até que Eu ponha os Teus inimigos por escabelo dos Teus pés.

4And again He saith unto Him Sit Thou on My right hand, until I make Thine enemies a footstool for Thy feet.

5Quem são, então, estes inimigos? Os que são maus e resistem à Sua vontade.

5Who then are these enemies? They that are wicked and resist His will.
