1 Clemente 37

1Alistemo-nos, portanto, irmãos, com todo o fervor, nas Suas ordenanças sem falha.

1Let us therefore enlist ourselves, brethren, with all earnestness in His faultless ordinances.

2Observemos os soldados que estão alistados sob os nossos governantes, com que exatidão, com que prontidão, com que submissão executam as ordens que lhes são dadas.

2Let us mark the soldiers that are enlisted under our rulers, how exactly, how readily, how submissively, they execute the orders given them.

3Nem todos são prefeitos, nem chefes de mil, nem chefes de cem, nem chefes de cinquenta, e assim por diante; mas cada um, na sua própria fileira, executa as ordens dadas pelo rei e pelos governadores.

3All are not prefects, nor rulers of thousands, nor rulers of hundreds, nor rulers of fifties, and so forth; but each man in his own rank executeth the orders given by the king and the governors.

4Os grandes sem os pequenos não podem existir, nem os pequenos sem os grandes. Há uma certa mistura em todas as coisas, e nela há utilidade.

4The great without the small cannot exist, neither the small without the great. There is a certain mixture in all things, and therein is utility.

5Tomemos o nosso corpo como exemplo. A cabeça sem os pés nada é; do mesmo modo os pés sem a cabeça nada são: até os menores membros do nosso corpo são necessários e úteis para todo o corpo: mas todos os membros conspiram e se unem em sujeição, para que todo o corpo seja salvo.

5Let us take our body as an example. The head without the feet is nothing; so likewise the feet without the head are nothing: even the smallest limbs of our body are necessary and useful for the whole body: but all the members conspire and unite in subjection, that the whole body may be saved.
