1 Clemente 38

1Assim, no nosso caso, seja salvo todo o corpo em Cristo Jesus, e seja cada um sujeito ao seu próximo, conforme também foi designado com a sua graça especial.

1So in our case let the whole body be saved in Christ Jesus, and let each man be subject unto his neighbor, according as also he was appointed with his special grace.

2Não negligencie o forte o fraco; e respeite o fraco o forte. Preste o rico auxílio ao pobre; e dê graças a Deus o pobre, porque lhe deu alguém por meio de quem as suas necessidades possam ser supridas. Mostre o sábio a sua sabedoria, não em palavras, mas em boas obras. O que é humilde de mente, não dê testemunho de si mesmo, mas deixe que o testemunho lhe seja dado pelo seu próximo. O que é puro na carne, seja-o, e não se glorie, sabendo que é Outro quem lhe concede a sua continência.

2Let not the strong neglect the weak; and let the weak respect the strong. Let the rich minister aid to the poor; and let the poor give thanks to God, because He hath given him one through whom his wants may be supplied. Let the wise display his wisdom, not in words, but in good works. He that is lowly in mind, let him not bear testimony to himself, but leave testimony to be borne to him by his neighbor. He that is pure in the flesh, let him be so, and not boast, knowing that it is Another who bestoweth his continence upon him.

3Consideremos, irmãos, de que matéria fomos feitos; quem e que espécie de seres éramos quando viemos ao mundo; de que sepulcro e de que escuridão Aquele que nos modelou e criou nos trouxe ao Seu mundo, tendo preparado de antemão os Seus benefícios antes que nascêssemos.

3Let us consider, brethren, of what matter we were made; who and what manner of beings we were, when we came into the world; from what a sepulchre and what darkness He that molded and created us brought us into His world, having prepared His benefits aforehand ere ever we were born.

4Visto, pois, que temos todas estas coisas d'Ele, devemos em todas as coisas render-Lhe graças, a quem seja a glória para todo o sempre. Amém.

4Seeing therefore that we have all these things from Him, we ought in all things to give thanks to Him, to whom be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
