1 Clemente 54

1Quem, portanto, é nobre entre vós? Quem é compassivo? Quem está cheio de amor?

1Who therefore is noble among you? Who is compassionate? Who is fulfilled with love?

2Diga: Se por minha causa há facção e contenda e divisões, retiro-me, parto para onde quiserdes, e faço o que for ordenado pelo povo: somente que o rebanho de Cristo esteja em paz com os presbíteros devidamente constituídos.

2Let him say; If by reason of me there be faction and strife and divisions, I retire, I depart, whither ye will, and I do that which is ordered by the people: only let the flock of Christ be at peace with its duly appointed presbyters.

3Aquele que tiver feito isto ganhará para si grande renome em Cristo, e todo lugar o receberá: pois do Senhor é a terra e a sua plenitude.

3He that shall have done this, shall win for himself great renown in Christ, and every place will receive him: for the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof.

4Assim fizeram e farão os que vivem como cidadãos daquele reino de Deus que não traz arrependimentos.

4Thus have they done and will do, that live as citizens of that kingdom of God which bringeth no regrets.
