1 Coríntios 13

1Ainda que eu falasse as línguas dos seres humanos e dos anjos, e não tivesse amor, seria como o metal que soa, ou como o sino que retine.

1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2E ainda que tivesse o dom de profecia, e soubesse todos os mistérios, e todo o conhecimento; e ainda que tivesse toda a fé, de tal maneira que movesse os montes de lugar, e não tivesse amor, nada seria.

2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

3E ainda que eu distribuísse todos os meus bens para alimentar aos pobres, e ainda que entregasse meu corpo para ser queimado, e não tivesse amor, nada me aproveitaria.

3And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

4O amor é paciente, é bondoso; o amor não é invejoso; o amor não é orgulhoso, não é arrogante.

4Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

5O amor não trata mal; não busca os próprios interesses, não se ira, não é rancoroso.

5Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

6Não se alegra com a injustiça, mas se alegra com a verdade.

6Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7Tudo aguenta, tudo crê, tudo espera, tudo suporta.

7Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

8O amor nunca falha. Porém as profecias serão aniquiladas; as línguas acabarão, e o conhecimento será aniquilado.

8Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9Porque em parte conhecemos, e em parte profetizamos;

9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10Mas quando vier o que é completo, Ou: perfeito então o que é em parte será aniquilado.

10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11Quando eu era menino, falava como menino, sentia como menino, pensava como menino; mas quando me tornei homem, aniquilei as coisas de menino.

11When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12Porque agora vemos por espelho em enigma, mas então veremos face a face; agora conheço em parte, mas então conhecerei assim como sou conhecido.

12For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13E agora continuam a fé, a esperança, e o amor, estes três; porém o maior destes é o amor.

13And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
