1 Crônicas 14

1Então Hirão, rei de Tiro, enviou mensageiros a Davi, e também madeira de cedro, pedreiros e carpinteiros, para lhe edificarem uma casa.

1Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.

2E Davi entendeu que o SENHOR o tinha confirmado por rei sobre Israel, pois seu reino tinha sido exaltado, por causa de seu povo Israel.

2And David perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.

3E Davi teve mais esposas em Jerusalém, e Davi ainda gerou filhos e filhas.

3And David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters.

4E estes são os nomes dos filhos que teve em Jerusalém: Samua, Sobabe, Natã, Salomão,

4Now these are the names of his children which he had in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,

5Ibar, Elisua, Elpelete,

5And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,

6Nogá, Nefegue, Jafia,

6And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

7Elisama, Beeliada e Elifelete.

7And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.

8Quando, pois, os filisteus ouviram que Davi havia sido ungido rei sobre todo Israel, todos os filisteus subiram em busca de Davi. E quando Davi ouviu falar disso, logo saiu contra eles.

8And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them.

9E os filisteus vieram e ocuparam o vale de Refaim.

9And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

10Então Davi consultou a Deus, dizendo: Subirei contra os filisteus? E tu os entregarás em minhas mãos? E o SENHOR lhe disse: Sobe, porque eu os entregarei em teus mãos.

10And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.

11Davi subiu, pois, Baal-Perazim, e ali os derrotou. Então Davi disse: Por minha mão Deus rompeu meus inimigos, como se rompem as águas. Por isso chamaram o nome daquele lugar Baal-Perazim.

11So they came up to Baalperazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baalperazim.

12E ali deixaram seus deuses, e Davi mandou que fossem queimados a fogo.

12And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.

13Porém os filisteus voltaram a ocupar o vale.

13And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.

14Então Davi voltou a consultar a Deus, e Deus lhe disse: Não subas por trás deles; em vez disso rodeia-os, e vem contra eles em frente das amoreiras;

14Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.

15E será que ouvires, quando tu ouvires o ruído do marchar das tropas pelas copas das amoreiras, então sai à batalha; porque Deus sairá adiante de ti para derrotar o acampamento dos filisteus.

15And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.

16E Davi fez como Deus lhe mandara, e feriram o acampamento dos filisteus desde Gibeão até Gezer.

16David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.

17E a fama de Davi se espalhou por todas aquelas terras; e o SENHOR fez todas aquelas nações temerem a Davi.

17And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.
