1E dali fui a outro lugar, e ele me mostrou no ocidente outro monte grande e alto, de rocha dura.

1And thence I went to another place, and he showed me in the west another great and high mountain and of hard rock.

2E havia nele quatro lugares ocos, profundos, e largos, e muito lisos. Quão lisos são os lugares ocos, e profundos, e escuros de se ver!

2And there was in it four hollow places, deep and wide and very smooth. How smooth are the hollow places and deep and dark to look at.

3Então Rafael, um dos santos anjos que estava comigo, respondeu e me disse: Estes lugares ocos foram criados para este mesmo fim, para que os espíritos das almas dos mortos se ajuntem neles; sim, para que todas as almas dos filhos dos homens se ajuntem aqui.

3Then Raphael answered, one of the holy angels who was with me, and said unto me: ‘These hollow places have been created for this very purpose, that the spirits of the souls of the dead should assemble therein, yea that all the souls of the children of men should assemble here.

4E estes lugares foram feitos para os receber até o dia do seu juízo, e até o seu período designado, até o período designado, até que venha sobre eles o grande juízo.

4And these places have been made to receive them till the day of their judgement and till their appointed period till the period appointed, till the great judgement comes upon them.’

5Vi os espíritos dos filhos dos homens que estavam mortos, e a sua voz subia ao céu e fazia súplica.

5I saw the spirits of the children of men who were dead, and their voice went forth to heaven and made suit.

6Então perguntei a Rafael, o anjo que estava comigo, e lhe disse: Este espírito, de quem é, cuja voz sobe e faz súplica?

6Then I asked Raphael the angel who was with me, and I said unto him: ‘This spirit—whose is it, whose voice goeth forth and maketh suit?’

7E ele me respondeu, dizendo: Este é o espírito que saiu de Abel, a quem seu irmão Caim matou; e ele faz a sua súplica contra ele, até que a sua descendência seja destruída da face da terra e a sua descendência seja aniquilada do meio da descendência dos homens.

7And he answered me saying: ‘This is the spirit which went forth from Abel, whom his brother Cain slew, and he makes his suit against him till his seed is destroyed from the face of the earth, and his seed is annihilated from amongst the seed of men.’

8Então perguntei a respeito dele e a respeito de todos os lugares ocos: Por que um está separado do outro?

8Then I asked regarding it, and regarding all the hollow places:’Why is one separated from the other?’

9E ele me respondeu e me disse: Estes três foram feitos para que os espíritos dos mortos fossem separados. E tal divisão foi feita para os espíritos dos justos, na qual está a fonte brilhante de água.

9And he answered me and said unto me: ‘These three have been made that the spirits of the dead might be separated. And such a division has been made for the spirits of the righteous, in which there is the bright spring of water.

10E tal foi feita para os pecadores, quando morrem e são sepultados na terra, e o juízo não foi executado sobre eles durante a sua vida.

10And such has been made for sinners when they die and are buried in the earth and judgement has not been executed on them in their lifetime.

11Aqui os seus espíritos serão postos à parte nesta grande dor, até o grande dia do juízo, e do castigo, e do tormento dos que amaldiçoam para sempre, e da retribuição dos seus espíritos. Ali ele os amarrará para sempre.

11Here their spirits shall be set apart in this great pain till the great day of judgement and punishment and torment of those who curse for ever and retribution for their spirits. There He shall bind them for ever.

12E tal divisão foi feita para os espíritos dos que fazem a sua súplica, que dão a conhecer a sua destruição, quando foram mortos nos dias dos pecadores.

12And such a division has been made for the spirits of those who make their suit, who make disclosures concerning their destruction, when they were slain in the days of the sinners.

13Tal foi feita para os espíritos dos homens que não foram justos, mas pecadores, que foram completos na transgressão, e dos transgressores serão companheiros; mas os seus espíritos não serão mortos no dia do juízo, nem serão levantados dali.

13Such has been made for the spirits of men who were not righteous but sinners, who were complete in transgression, and of the transgressors they shall be companions: but their spirits shall not be slain in the day of judgement nor shall they be raised from thence.

14Então bendisse o Senhor da glória e disse: Bendito seja o meu Senhor, o Senhor da justiça, que reina para sempre.

14Then I blessed the Lord of glory and said: ‘Blessed be my Lord, the Lord of righteousness, who ruleth for ever.’
