1E aconteceu que, quando os filhos dos homens se multiplicaram, naqueles dias lhes nasceram filhas formosas e belas.

1And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born unto them beautiful and comely daughters.

2E os anjos, os filhos do céu, as viram e as cobiçaram, e disseram uns aos outros: Vinde, escolhamos para nós mulheres dentre os filhos dos homens, e geremos filhos.

2And the angels, the children of the heaven, saw and lusted after them, and said to one another: ‘Come, let us choose us wives from among the children of men and beget us children.’

3E Semjaza, que era o seu chefe, lhes disse: Temo que de fato não concordareis em fazer esta obra, e só eu terei de pagar a pena de um grande pecado.

3And Semjâzâ, who was their leader, said unto them: ‘I fear ye will not indeed agree to do this deed, and I alone shall have to pay the penalty of a great sin.’

4E todos lhe responderam e disseram: Façamos todos um juramento, e obriguemo-nos todos com imprecações mútuas a não abandonar este plano, mas a fazer esta coisa.

4And they all answered him and said: ‘Let us all swear an oath, and all bind ourselves by mutual imprecations not to abandon this plan but to do this thing.’

5Então juraram todos juntos, e se obrigaram a isso com imprecações mútuas.

5Then sware they all together and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it.

6E eram ao todo duzentos, os que desceram nos dias de Jarede sobre o cume do monte Hermom; e o chamaram monte Hermom, porque tinham jurado e se obrigado sobre ele com imprecações mútuas.

9And they bore unto them three races: first the great giants; the giants begat the Nephilim, and the Nephilim begat the Elioud. And they grew in power, teaching one another and their wives sorcery and enchantments.
