1 João 3

1Vede quão grande amor o Pai tem nos dado, que fôssemos chamados filhos de Deus. Por isso o mundo não nos conhece, pois não conhece a ele.

1Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

2Amados, agora somos filhos de Deus, e ainda não está manifesto o que seremos. Porém sabemos que, quando ele se manifestar, seremos semelhantes a ele, pois o veremos como ele é.

2Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

3E todo aquele que tem nele essa esperança purifica a si mesmo, como também ele é puro.

3And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

4Todo aquele que pratica o pecado também pratica injustiça, pois o pecado é injustiça.

4Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

5E sabeis que ele apareceu para tirar os nossos pecados; e nele não há pecado.

5And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

6Todo aquele que nele permanece não pratica o pecado; todo aquele que costuma pecar não o viu nem o conheceu.

6Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

7Filhinhos, ninguém vos engane. Quem pratica a justiça é justo, assim como ele é justo.

7Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

8Quem pratica o pecado é do diabo, pois o diabo peca desde o princípio. Para isto o Filho de Deus se manifestou, para desfazer as obras do diabo.

8He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

9Todo aquele que é nascido de Deus não pratica o pecado, pois a sua semente reside nele; e não pode praticar o pecado, porque é nascido de Deus.

9Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

10Nisto são reconhecíveis os filhos de Deus, e os filhos do diabo: todo aquele que não pratica a justiça, e não ama o seu irmão, não é de Deus.

10In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

11Pois esta é a mensagem que ouvistes desde o princípio: que nos amemos uns aos outros.

11For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

12Não sejamos como Caim, que era do maligno, e matou o seu irmão. E por que o matou? Porque as suas obras eram más, e as do seu irmão justas.

12Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

13Meus irmãos, não vos surpreendeis se o mundo vos odeia.

13Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

14Nós sabemos que já passamos da morte para a vida, pois amamos os irmãos. Quem não ama seu irmão permanece na morte.

14We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

15Todo aquele que odeia o seu irmão é homicida. E sabeis que nenhum homicida tem a vida eterna habitando nele.

15Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

16Nisto conhecemos o amor: ele deu a sua vida por nós. E nós devemos dar as nossas vidas pelos irmãos.

16Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

17Se alguém tiver bens do mundo, e vir o seu irmão em necessidade, e não se compadecer dele, como pode o amor de Deus estar nele?

17But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

18Meus filhinhos, amemos não de palavra, nem de língua, mas sim com ação e verdade.

18My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

19E nisto sabemos que somos da verdade, e teremos segurança nos nossos corações diante dele.

19And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

20Pois, se o nosso coração nos condena, maior é Deus que o nosso coração, e conhece tudo.

20For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

21Amados, se nosso coração não nos condena, temos confiança diante de Deus.

21Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

22E qualquer coisa que pedirmos, dele receberemos; porque guardamos os seus mandamentos, e fazemos o que lhe agrada.

22And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

23E este é o seu mandamento: que creiamos no nome do seu Filho Jesus Cristo, e nos amemos uns aos outros, como ele nos mandou.

23And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

24E a pessoa que guarda os seus mandamentos está nele, e ele nela. E nisto sabemos que ele está em nós: pelo Espírito que ele nos deu.

24And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
