1 Pedro 3

1Semelhantemente vós, esposas, estejais sujeitas aos próprios maridos, para que, ainda que alguns não obedeçam à Palavra, por meio do comportamento das esposas, sem palavra, sejam ganhos,

1Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

2quando eles observarem o vosso comportamento puro e com temor.

2While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

3A vossa beleza não seja a exterior, como tranças de cabelos, joias de ouro, ou vestuário,

3Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

4mas sim, a pessoa interior no coração, o embelezamento incorruptível de um espírito manso e tranquilo, que é precioso diante de Deus.

4But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

5Pois assim também se embelezavam antigamente as mulheres santas, que esperavam em Deus, e eram sujeitas aos seus maridos.

5For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

6Dessa maneira Sara obedecia a Abraão, chamando-lhe de senhor. Vós sois filhas dela se fizerdes o bem e não temerdes espanto algum.

6Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

7Semelhantemente vós maridos, convivei com elas com entendimento, dando honra à mulher, como a vaso mais fraco, como sendo elas e vós juntamente herdeiros da graça da vida; a fim de que as vossas orações não sejam impedidas.

7Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

8E por fim, sede todos de uma mesma mentalidade, compassivos, tenhais amor pelos irmãos, e sede misericordiosos e benevolentes.

8Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

9Não retribuais o mal com mal, ou insulto com insulto; ao contrário, bendizei, sabendo que para isto fostes chamados, para que herdeis a bênção.

9Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

10Pois: quem quer amar a vida e ver dias bons, refreie sua língua do mal, e que seus lábios não falem engano.

10For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

11Afaste-se do mal, e faça o bem; busque a paz, e siga-a.

11Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

12Porque os olhos do Senhor estão sobre os justos, e seus ouvidos atentos às suas orações; mas a face do Senhor é contra os que fazem o mal.

12For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

13E quem vos fará mal se fordes adeptos do bem?

13And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

14Porém, mesmo se sofrerdes por causa da justiça, benditos sois. Não tenhais medo deles, nem vos perturbeis.

14But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;

15Mas santificai a Deus como Senhor em vossos corações; e estai sempre preparados para responder com mansidão e respeito a todo aquele que vos pedir a razão da esperança que há em vós,

15But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

16tendo uma boa consciência; para que, naquilo que falam mal de vós como malfeitores, os que insultam o vosso bom comportamento em Cristo sejam envergonhados.

16Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

17Pois é melhor que sofrais fazendo o bem, se assim a vontade de Deus quer, do que fazendo o mal.

17For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

18Porque também Cristo sofreu uma vez pelos pecados, o justo pelos injustos; para que nos levasse a Deus. Ele estava, de fato, morto na carne, mas vivificado pelo Espírito,

18For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

19no qual ele também foi pregar aos espíritos em prisão.

19By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

20Estes são os que antigamente foram rebeldes, quando uma vez a paciência de Deus aguardava nos dias de Noé, enquanto era preparada a arca. Nela, poucas almas (isto é, oito) foram salvas por meio da água.

20Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

21Esta é uma representação do batismo, que agora também nos salva, não como remoção da sujeira do corpo, mas sim como o pedido de boa consciência a Deus, por meio da ressurreição de Jesus Cristo.

21The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

22Ele está à direita de Deus, depois de haver subido ao céu; e os anjos, as autoridades, e os poderes estão sob o seu comando.

22Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
