1 Pedro 4

1Visto que Cristo sofreu por nós na carne, armai-vos também com o mesmo modo de pensar, pois quem sofreu na carne terminou com o pecado;

1Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

2para que, no resto do tempo na carne, não viva mais segundo os maus desejos humanos, mas sim segundo a vontade de Deus.

2That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

3Pois já basta, no tempo passado da vida, termos feito a vontade dos pagãos, e andado em promiscuidades, desejos maliciosos, bebedeiras, orgias, festas de embriaguez, e abomináveis idolatrias.

3For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

4Como eles estranham vós não agirdes como eles, que correm em busca da extrema devassidão, por isso falam mal de vós.

4Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

5Eles terão de prestar contas ao que está pronto para julgar os vivos e os mortos.

5Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

6Pois por isso o evangelho também foi pregado aos mortos, para que, mesmo que tenham sido julgados na carne segundo os critérios humanos, vivam em espírito segundo os critérios de Deus.

6For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

7O fim de todas as coisas está próximo; portanto sede sóbrios, e vigiai em orações.

7But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

8Mas, acima de tudo, tende fervoroso amor uns para com os outros; porque o amor cobrirá uma multidão de pecados.

8And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

9Proporcionai hospitalidade uns aos outros, sem murmurações.

9Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

10Cada um sirva aos outros segundo o dom que recebeu, como bons administradores da variada graça de Deus.

10As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

11Se alguém fala, que seja como as palavras de Deus; se alguém serve, que sirva segundo a força que Deus dá; a fim de que em tudo Deus seja glorificado por meio de Jesus Cristo. E a ele pertencem a glória e o poder para todo o sempre, Amém!

11If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

12Amados, não estranheis o fogo ardente que vem sobre vós para vos provar, como se algo estranho estivesse vos acontecendo.

12Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

13Em vez disso, alegrai-vos em serdes participantes das aflições de Cristo; para que, também na revelação de sua glória vos alegreis com júbilo.

13But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

14Se vós sois insultados por causa do nome de Cristo, benditos sois; porque o Espírito da glória e de Deus repousa sobre vós; o qual por eles é insultado, mas por vós é glorificado.

14If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

15Porém nenhum de vós sofra como homicida, ladrão, malfeitor, ou como alguém que se intromete em assuntos alheios;

15But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.

16Mas se sofre como cristão, não se envergonhe; ao contrário, glorifique a Deus por isso;

16Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

17Pois já é tempo do julgamento começar pela casa de Deus; e se é primeiro conosco, qual será o fim daqueles que são desobedientes ao Evangelho de Deus?

17For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

18E se o justo se salva com dificuldade, em que situação aparecerá o ímpio e pecador?

18And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

19Portanto, os que sofrem segundo a vontade de Deus, confiem suas almas ao fiel Criador, fazendo o bem.

19Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
