1Três anos passaram sem guerra entre os sírios e Israel.

1And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.

2E aconteceu ao terceiro ano, que Josafá rei de Judá desceu ao rei de Israel.

2And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.

3E o rei de Israel disse a seus servos: Não sabeis que Ramote de Gileade e nossa? Porém ficamos quietos, sem a tomar da mão do rei da Síria.

3And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?

4E disse a Josafá: Queres vir comigo a lutar contra Ramote de Gileade? E Josafá respondeu ao rei de Israel: Como eu, assim tu; e como meu povo, assim teu povo; e como meus cavalos, teus cavalos.

4And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramothgilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.

5E disse logo Josafá ao rei de Israel: Eu te rogo que consultes hoje a palavra do SENHOR.

5And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.

6Então o rei de Israel juntou os profetas, como quatrocentos homens, aos quais disse: Irei à guerra contra Ramote de Gileade, ou a deixarei? E eles disseram: Sobe; porque o Senhor a entregará em mão do rei.

6Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

7E disse Josafá: Há ainda aqui algum profeta do SENHOR, pelo qual consultemos?

7And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?

8E o rei de Israel respondeu a Josafá: Ainda há um homem pelo qual poderíamos consultar ao SENHOR, Micaías, filho de Inlá: mas eu lhe aborreço porque nunca me profetiza bem, a não ser somente mal. E Josafá disse: Não fale o rei assim.

8And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

9Então o rei de Israel chamou a um eunuco, e disse-lhe: traze logo a Micaías filho de Inlá.

9Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten hither Micaiah the son of Imlah.

10E o rei de Israel e Josafá rei de Judá estavam sentados cada um em sua cadeira, vestidos de suas roupas reais, na praça junto à entrada da porta de Samaria; e todos os profetas profetizavam diante deles.

10And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.

11E Zedequias filho de Quenaaná se havia feito uns chifres de ferro, e disse: Assim disse o SENHOR: Com estes chifrarás aos siros até acabá-los.

11And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the LORD, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have consumed them.

12E todos os profetas profetizavam da mesma maneira, dizendo: Sobe a Ramote de Gileade, e serás próspero; que o SENHOR a dará em mão do rei.

12And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the king's hand.

13E o mensageiro que havia ido a chamar a Micaías, falou-lhe, dizendo: Eis que as palavras dos profetas unanimemente anunciam o bem ao rei; seja agora a tua palavra conforme à palavra de algum deles, e anuncia o bem.

13And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.

14E Micaías respondeu: Vive o SENHOR, que o que o SENHOR me falar, isso direi.

14And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith unto me, that will I speak.

15Veio, pois, ao rei, e o rei lhe disse: Micaías, devemos ir lutar por Ramote de Gileade, ou a deixaremos? E ele respondeu: Sobe, que serás próspero, e o SENHOR a entregará na mão do rei.

15So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

16E o rei lhe disse: Até quantas vezes te farei jurar que não me digas a não ser a verdade no nome do SENHOR?

16And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD?

17Então ele disse: Eu vi a todo Israel disperso pelos montes, como ovelhas que não têm pastor: e o SENHOR disse: Estes não têm senhor: volte-se cada um a sua casa em paz.

17And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.

18E o rei de Israel disse a Josafá: Não te o havia eu dito? Nenhuma coisa boa profetizará ele acerca de mim, a não ser somente mal.

18And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?

19Então ele disse: Ouve, pois, a palavra do SENHOR: Eu vi o SENHOR sentado em seu trono, e todo o exército dos céus estava junto a ele, à sua direita e à sua esquerda.

19And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

20E o SENHOR disse: Quem induzirá a Acabe, para que suba e caia em Ramote de Gileade? E um dizia de uma maneira; e outro dizia de outra.

20And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.

21E saiu um espírito, e pôs-se diante do SENHOR, e disse: Eu lhe induzirei. E o SENHOR lhe disse: De que maneira?

21And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him.

22E ele disse: Eu sairei, e serei espírito de mentira em boca de todos seus profetas. E ele disse: induzi-lo-ás, e ainda sairás com ele; sai, pois, e faze-o assim.

22And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.

23E agora, eis que o SENHOR pôs espírito de mentira na boca de todos estes teus profetas, e o SENHOR decretou o mal acerca de ti.

23Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.

24Chegando-se então Zedequias filho de Quenaaná, feriu a Micaías na face, dizendo: Por onde se foi de mim o espírito do SENHOR para falar a ti?

24But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?

25E Micaías respondeu: Eis que tu o verás naquele dia, quando te irás metendo de câmara em câmara por esconder-te.

25And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.

26Então o rei de Israel disse: Toma a Micaías, e volta-o a Amom governador da cidade, e a Joás filho do rei;

26And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;

27E dirás: Assim disse o rei: Lançai a este no cárcere, e mantende-lhe com pão de angústia e com água de aflição, até que eu volte em paz.

27And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.

28E disse Micaías: Se chegares a voltar em paz, o SENHOR não falou por mim. Em seguida disse: Ouvi, povos todos.

28And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you.

29Subiu, pois, o rei de Israel com Josafá rei de Judá a Ramote de Gileade.

29So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramothgilead.

30E o rei de Israel disse a Josafá: Eu me disfarçarei, e entrarei na batalha: e tu veste-te tuas vestes. E o rei de Israel se disfarçou, e entrou na batalha.

30And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.

31Mas o rei da Síria havia mandado a seus trinta e dois capitães dos carros, dizendo: Não luteis vós nem com grande nem com pequeno, a não ser somente contra o rei de Israel.

31But the king of Syria commanded his thirty and two captains that had rule over his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.

32E quando os capitães dos carros viram a Josafá, disseram: Certamente este é o rei de Israel; e vieram a ele para lutar com ele; mas o rei Josafá gritou.

32And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it is the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out.

33Vendo, então, os capitães dos carros que não era o rei de Israel, apartaram-se dele.

33And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.

34E um homem disparando seu arco ao acaso, feriu ao rei de Israel por entre as junturas da armadura; pelo que disse ele a seu condutor do carro: Toma a volta, e tira-me do campo, que estou ferido.

34And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.

35Mas a batalha havia se intensificado naquele dia, e o rei esteve em seu carro diante dos sírios, e à tarde morreu: e o sangue da ferida corria pelo fundo do carro.

35And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot.

36E ao pôr do sol saiu um clamor pelo campo, dizendo: Cada um à sua cidade, e cada qual à sua terra!

36And there went a proclamation throughout the host about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own country.

37E morreu, pois, o rei, e foi trazido a Samaria; e sepultaram ao rei em Samaria.

37So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.

38E lavaram o carro no tanque de Samaria, onde as prostitutas também se lavavam; e os cães lamberam seu sangue, conforme à palavra do SENHOR que havia falado.

38And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the LORD which he spake.

39Os demais dos feitos de Acabe, e todas as coisas que ele executou, e a casa de marfim que fez, e todas as cidades que edificou, não estão escritos no livro das crônicas dos reis de Israel?

39Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

40E descansou Acabe com seus pais, e reinou em seu lugar Acazias seu filho.

40So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

41E Josafá filho de Asa começou a reinar sobre Judá no quarto ano de Acabe rei de Israel.

41And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.

42E era Josafá de trinta e cinco anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou vinte e cinco anos em Jerusalém. O nome de sua mãe foi Azuba filha de Sili.

42Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

43E andou em todo o caminho de Asa seu pai, sem desviar dele, fazendo o reto nos olhos do SENHOR. Contudo isso os altos não foram tirados; que o povo sacrificava ainda, e queimava incenso nos altos.

43And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD:

44E Josafá fez paz com o rei de Israel.

44Nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places.

45Os demais dos feitos de Josafá, e suas façanhas, e as guerras que fez, não está escrito no livro das crônicas dos reis de Judá?

45And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.

46Removeu também da terra o resto dos sodomitas que haviam restado no tempo de seu pai Asa.

46Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he shewed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

47Não havia então rei em Edom; governador havia em lugar de rei.

47And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land.

48Havia Josafá feito navios em Társis, os quais haviam de ir a Ofir por ouro; mas não foram, porque se romperam em Eziom-Geber.

48There was then no king in Edom: a deputy was king.

49Então Acazias filho de Acabe disse a Josafá: Vão meus servos com os teus nos navios. Mas Josafá não quis.

49Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Eziongeber.

50E dormiu Josafá com seus pais, e foi sepultado com seus pais na cidade de Davi seu pai; e em seu lugar reinou Jeorão seu filho.

50Then said Ahaziah the son of Ahab unto Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.

51E Acazias filho de Acabe começou a reinar sobre Israel em Samaria, o ano dezessete de Josafá rei de Judá; e reinou dois anos sobre Israel.

51And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

52E fez o que era mau aos olhos do SENHOR, e andou no caminho de seu pai, e no caminho de sua mãe, e no caminho de Jeroboão filho de Nebate, que fez pecar a Israel:

52Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.

53Porque serviu a Baal, e o adorou, e provocou à ira o SENHOR Deus de Israel, conforme todas as coisas que seu pai havia feito.

53And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:

54For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.
