1 Timóteo 4

1Mas o Espírito diz expressamente que nos últimos tempos alguns se afastarão da fé, dando atenção a espíritos enganadores, e a doutrinas de demônios,

1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

2por meio da hipocrisia de mentirosos, que têm a sua própria consciência cauterizada.

2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

3Eles proibirão o casamento, e mandarão se abster dos alimentos que Deus criou para que sejam usados com gratidão pelos fiéis e pelos que conheceram a verdade.

3Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

4Pois toda criatura de Deus é boa, e não há nada a rejeitar, se for recebida com gratidão.

4For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

5Porque ela é santificada pela palavra de Deus e pela oração.

5For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

6Se informares essas coisas aos irmãos, serás um bom servidor de Jesus Cristo, alimentado com as palavras da fé e de boa doutrina que tens seguido.

6If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

7Mas rejeita os mitos profanos e de velhas, e exercita-te na devoção divina.

7But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

8Pois o exercício do corpo tem pouco proveito; mas a devoção divina é proveitosa para tudo, pois tem as promessas da vida atual e da futura.

8For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

9Esta palavra é fiel, e digna de toda aceitação.

9This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

10Pois para isto também trabalhamos e somos insultados, porque esperamos o Deus vivo, que é o Salvador de todos, especialmente dos crentes.

10For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

11Manda essas coisas, e ensina.

11These things command and teach.

12Ninguém despreze a tua juventude, mas sê exemplo aos crentes, na palavra, no comportamento, no amor, em espírito, na fé, e na pureza.

12Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

13Persiste na leitura, na exortação e no ensino, até que eu venha.

13Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

14Não desprezes o dom que está em ti, que te foi dado por profecia, com a imposição das mãos dos presbíteros.

14Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

15Medita nessas coisas, e nelas te ocupe, para que o teu progresso seja visível por todos.

15Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

16Tem cuidado de ti mesmo e da doutrina; persevera nessas coisas; porque, se fizeres isso, salvarás tanto a ti mesmo como aos que te ouvem.

16Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
