2 Clemente 20

1Nem permitais que isto perturbe novamente a vossa mente: o vermos os injustos possuindo riquezas e os servos de Deus em penúria.

1Neither suffer ye this again to trouble your mind, that we see the unrighteous possessing wealth, and the servants of God straitened.

2Tenhamos, pois, fé, irmãos e irmãs: somos provados pela vida presente para que sejamos coroados na futura.

2Let us then have faith, brothers and sisters. We are trained by the present life, that we may be crowned with the future.

3Homem justo algum colheu fruto com rapidez, mas por ele aguarda pacientemente.

3No righteous man hath reaped fruit quickly but waiteth for it.

4Pois se Deus pagasse a recompensa dos justos prontamente, logo nos exercitaríamos no comércio e não na piedade; pois pareceríamos justos embora buscássemos não o que é piedoso, mas o que é lucrativo. E por esta causa o juízo divino alcança o espírito que não é reto e o carrega de grilhões.

4For if God had paid the recompense of the righteous speedily, then straightway we should have been training ourselves in merchandise, and not in godliness; for we should seem to be righteous, though we were pursuing not that which is godly, but which is gainful. And for this cause Divine judgment overtaketh a spirit that is not just, and loadeth it with chains.

5Ao único Deus invisível, o Pai da verdade, que nos enviou o Salvador e Príncipe da imortalidade, por meio de quem também nos manifestou a verdade e a vida celestial, a Ele seja a glória pelos séculos dos séculos. Amém.

5To the only God invisible, the Father of truth, who sent forth unto us the Savior and Prince of immortality, through whom also He made manifest unto us the truth and the heavenly life, to Him be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
