2 Clemente 5

1Pelo que, irmãos, renunciemos à nossa peregrinação neste mundo e façamos a vontade d'Aquele que nos chamou, e não tenhamos medo de sair deste mundo.

1Wherefore, brethren, let us forsake our sojourn in this world and do the will of Him that called us, and let us not be afraid to depart out of this world.

2Pois diz o Senhor: Sereis como cordeiros no meio de lobos.

2For the Lord saith, Ye shall be as lambs in the midst of wolves.

3Respondeu-Lhe, porém, Pedro e disse: E que será se os lobos despedaçarem os cordeiros?

3But Peter answered and said unto Him, What then, if the wolves should tear the lambs?

4Disse Jesus a Pedro: Não temam os cordeiros aos lobos depois de mortos; e vós também, não temais os que vos matam e nada mais vos podem fazer; mas temei Aquele que, depois de estardes mortos, tem poder sobre a alma e o corpo para os lançar na Geena de fogo.

4Jesus said unto Peter, Let not the lambs fear the wolves after they are dead; and ye also, fear ye not them that kill you and are not able to do anything to you; but fear Him that after ye are dead hath power over soul and body, to cast them into the Gehenna of fire.

5E sabeis, irmãos, que a peregrinação desta carne neste mundo é humilde e por breve tempo, mas a promessa de Cristo é grande e maravilhosa: o repouso do reino vindouro e da vida eterna.

5And ye know, brethren, that the sojourn of this flesh in this world is mean and for a short time, but the promise of Christ is great and marvelous, even the rest of the kingdom that shall be and of life eternal.

6Que podemos, pois, fazer para alcançá-los, senão andar em santidade e justiça, e ter estas coisas mundanas como alheias a nós, e não as cobiçar?

6What then can we do to obtain them, but walk in holiness and righteousness, and consider these worldly things as alien to us, and not desire them?

7Pois quando desejamos alcançar estas coisas, desviamo-nos da vereda da retidão.

7For when we desire to obtain these things we fall away from the righteous path.
