1Bem-aventurado o homem que abre os lábios em louvor do Deus dos Exércitos e louva o Senhor com o seu coração.

1Blessed is the man who opens his lips in praise of God of Sabaoth and praises the Lord with his heart.

2Maldito todo homem que abre os lábios para desprezar e caluniar o seu próximo, porque assim despreza a Deus.

2Cursed every man who opens his lips for the bringing into contempt and calumny of his neighbour, because he brings God into contempt.

3Bem-aventurado aquele que abre os lábios abençoando e louvando a Deus.

3Blessed is he who opens his lips blessing and praising God.

4Maldito é ele diante do Senhor, todos os dias da sua vida, quem abre os lábios para amaldiçoar e injuriar.

4Cursed is he before the Lord all the days of his life, who opens his lips to curse and abuse.

5Bem-aventurado aquele que bendiz todas as obras do Senhor.

5Blessed is he who blesses all the Lord’s works.

6Maldito aquele que despreza a criação do Senhor.

6Cursed is he who brings the Lord’s creation into contempt.

7Bem-aventurado aquele que olha para baixo e levanta os caídos.

7Blessed is he who looks down and raises the fallen.

8Maldito aquele que olha para a destruição do que não é seu e a deseja com ardor.

8Cursed is he who looks to and is eager for the destruction of what is not his.

9Bem-aventurado aquele que mantém firmes os fundamentos de seus pais, desde o princípio.

9Blessed is he who keeps the foundations of his fathers made firm from the beginning.

10Maldito aquele que perverte os decretos dos seus antepassados.

10Cursed is he who perverts the decrees of his forefathers.

11Bem-aventurado aquele que dá paz e amor.

11Blessed is he who imparts peace and love.

12Maldito aquele que perturba os que amam os seus próximos.

12Cursed is he who disturbs those that love their neighbours.

13Bem-aventurado aquele que fala com língua e coração humildes a todos.

13Blessed is he who speaks with humble tongue and heart to all.

14Maldito aquele que fala paz com a língua, enquanto no seu coração não há paz, mas uma espada.

14Cursed is he who speaks peace with his tongue, while in his heart there is no peace but a sword.

15Pois todas estas coisas serão postas a nu nas balanças e nos livros, no dia do grande juízo.

15For all these things will be laid bare in the weighing-scales and in the books, on the day of the great judgment.
