2 Timóteo 2

1Portanto tu, meu filho, fortifica-te na graça que há em Cristo Jesus.

1Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

2E o que de mim ouviste entre muitas testemunhas, confia-o a pessoas fiéis, que sejam competentes para ensinar também a outros.

2And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

3Tu, pois, sofre as aflições como bom soldado de Jesus Cristo.

3Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

4Nenhum soldado em batalha se envolve com assuntos desta vida, pois tem como objetivo agradar àquele que o alistou.

4No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

5E, também, se alguém está competindo como atleta, não recebe a coroa se não seguir as regras.

5And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

6O lavrador que trabalha deve ser o primeiro a receber da partilha dos frutos.

6The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.

7Considera o que digo; que o Senhor te dê entendimento em tudo.

7Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

8Lembra-te de Jesus Cristo, ressuscitado dos mortos, da descendência de Davi, segundo o meu evangelho.

8Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:

9Por esse evangelho sofro aflições, e até prisões, como um criminoso; mas a palavra de Deus não está presa.

9Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

10Por isso tudo suporto por causa dos escolhidos, a fim de que também eles obtenham a salvação que está em Cristo Jesus com glória eterna.

10Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

11Esta afirmação é fiel: se morrermos com ele, também com ele viveremos;

11It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:

12se sofrermos, também com ele reinaremos; se o negamos, também ele nos negará;

12If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

13se formos infiéis, ele continua fiel; ele não pode negar a si mesmo.

13If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

14Lembra-os disso, alertando-os diante do Senhor, que não tenham brigas de palavras, que não têm proveito algum, a não ser para a ruína dos ouvintes.

14Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

15Procura apresentar-te aprovado a Deus como um trabalhador que não tem de que se envergonhar, que usa bem a palavra da verdade.

15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

16Mas evita conversas profanas e inútes; pois tendem a produzir maior irreverência.

16But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

17E a palavra deles se espalhará como uma gangrena; entre os quais são Himeneu e Fileto.

17And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;

18Esses se desviaram da verdade, dizendo que a ressurreição já aconteceu; e perverteram a fé de alguns.

18Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

19Porém o fundamento de Deus continua firme, e tem este selo: o Senhor conhece os que são seus, e que todo aquele que faz uso do nome de Cristo, se afaste da injustiça.

19Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

20Numa grande casa não há somente utensílios de ouro e de prata, mas também de madeira e de barro; e uns para honra, porém outros para desonra.

20But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

21Portanto, se alguém se purificar destas coisas, será utensílio para honra, santificado e adequado para uso do Dono, e preparado para toda boa obra.

21If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

22Foge também dos desejos da juventude; e segue a justiça, a fé, o amor, e a paz, com os que, de coração puro, invocam o Senhor.

22Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

23E rejeita as questões tolas e sem instrução, como sabes que elas produzem brigas.

23But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

24E ao servo do Senhor não convém brigar, mas sim ser manso com todos, apto para ensinar e suportar;

24And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

25deve instruir com mansidão aos que se opõem, pois talvez Deus lhes dê arrependimento para conhecerem a verdade;

25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

26e se libertem da armadilha do diabo, em que foram presos à vontade dele.

26And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
