4 Baruque 6

1Depois destas coisas, Abimeleque saiu da cidade e orou ao Senhor. E eis que um anjo do Senhor veio e o pôs de novo onde estava Baruque; e o achou sentado num sepulcro.

1After these things Abimelech went forth out of the city, and prayed unto the Lord. And behold, an angel of the Lord came, and set him again where Baruch was; and he found him sitting in a tomb.

2E, quando viram um ao outro, ambos choraram e beijaram-se. E Baruque, levantando os olhos, viu os figos cobertos no cesto; e, erguendo os olhos ao céu, orou, dizendo: Há um Deus que dá recompensa aos seus santos.

2And when they beheld one another, they both wept, and kissed one another. And Baruch, looking up, saw the figs covered in the basket; and lifting up his eyes to heaven, he prayed, saying: There is a God who giveth recompense to his saints.

3Prepara-te, ó meu coração, e alegra-te, e exulta no teu tabernáculo; digo à tua casa de carne: O teu luto se mudou em alegria. Pois vem o Suficiente, e te tirará do teu tabernáculo; porque não houve pecado em ti.

3Prepare thyself, O my heart, and rejoice, and exult in thy tabernacle; I say to thy house of flesh: Thy mourning is turned into joy. For the Sufficient One cometh, and will take thee out of thy tabernacle; for there hath been no sin unto thee.

4Revive, ó minha fé virgem, e crê que viverás.

4Revive, O my virgin faith, and believe that thou shalt live.

5Olha para este cesto de figos; porque eis que passaram-se sessenta e seis anos, e eles não murcharam, nem cheiraram mal, mas gotejam leite.

5Look upon this basket of figs; for behold, sixty and six years have they passed, and they have not withered, neither have they stunk, but drop milk.

6Assim será contigo, ó minha carne, se fizeres o que te foi mandado pelo anjo da justiça.

6Even so shall it be with thee, O my flesh, if thou do the things commanded thee by the angel of righteousness.

7Aquele que guardou o cesto de figos, o mesmo te guardará de novo pelo seu poder.

7He that kept the basket of figs, the same shall keep thee again by his power.

8E, tendo Baruque dito estas coisas, diz a Abimeleque: Levanta-te, e oremos, para que o Senhor nos faça saber como poderemos enviar notícias a Jeremias na Babilônia, por causa do abrigo que te sobreveio.

8And when Baruch had said these things, he saith to Abimelech: Arise, and let us pray, that the Lord may make known unto us how we may be able to send tidings to Jeremiah into Babylon, because of the shelter that hath befallen thee.

9E Baruque orou, dizendo: Ó nosso Poder, nosso Deus, ó Senhor, a luz escolhida que saiu da sua boca, rogo e imploro a tua bondade: o grande Nome que ninguém pode conhecer;

9And Baruch prayed, saying: O our Power, our God, O Lord, the chosen light that came forth out of his mouth, I beseech and entreat thy goodness: the great Name which none can know;

10ouve a voz do teu servo, e faze-te conhecimento no meu coração. Que queres que façamos? Como enviarei a Jeremias na Babilônia?

10hearken unto the voice of thy servant, and become knowledge in my heart. What wilt thou that we do? How shall I send unto Jeremiah into Babylon?

11E, enquanto Baruque ainda orava, eis que veio um anjo do Senhor, e diz a Baruque:

11And while Baruch was yet praying, behold, an angel of the Lord came, and saith unto Baruch:

12Baruque, conselheiro da luz, não te preocupes com o modo de enviar a Jeremias; pois virá a ti, à hora da luz, amanhã, uma águia, e visitarás Jeremias.

12Baruch, counsellor of the light, be not anxious how thou shalt send unto Jeremiah; for there cometh unto thee at the hour of light tomorrow an eagle, and thou shalt visit Jeremiah.

13Escreve, pois, na carta: Fala aos filhos de Israel: Seja separado o que se fez estrangeiro entre vós, e passem quinze dias; e depois destas coisas eu vos levarei à vossa cidade, diz o Senhor.

13Write therefore in the letter: Speak unto the children of Israel: Let him that hath become a stranger among you be set apart, and let them spend fifteen days; and after these things I will bring you into your city, saith the Lord.

14Aquele que não se separar da Babilônia, ó Jeremias, não entrará na cidade; e eu os repreendo, para que não sejam recebidos de novo pelos babilônios, diz o Senhor.

14He that is not set apart from Babylon, O Jeremiah, shall not enter into the city; and I rebuke them, that they be not received again by the Babylonians, saith the Lord.

15E, tendo o anjo dito estas coisas, retirou-se de Baruque.

15And when the angel had said these things, he departed from Baruch.

16E Baruque, enviando ao mercado das nações, trouxe papiro e tinta, e escreveu uma carta, contendo assim:

16And Baruch, sending to the market of the nations, brought papyrus and ink, and wrote a letter, containing thus:

17Baruque, servo de Deus, escreve a Jeremias, que está no cativeiro da Babilônia: Alegra-te e regozija-te, pois Deus não permitiu que partíssemos deste corpo aflitos pela cidade que foi feita desolada e ultrajada.

17Baruch the servant of God writeth to Jeremiah, who is in the captivity of Babylon: Rejoice and be glad, for God hath not suffered us to depart out of this body grieving for the city which was made desolate and outraged.

18Por isso o Senhor teve compaixão das nossas lágrimas e lembrou-se da aliança que estabeleceu com os nossos pais, Abraão, Isaque e Jacó.

18Therefore the Lord had compassion upon our tears, and remembered the covenant which he established with our fathers, Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob.

19Pois enviou-me o seu anjo, e disse-me estas palavras, que te enviei.

19For he sent unto me his angel, and told me these words, which I have sent unto thee.

20Estas, pois, são as palavras que o Senhor Deus de Israel disse, ele que nos tirou da terra do Egito, da grande fornalha:

20These, therefore, are the words which the Lord God of Israel said, who brought us out of the land of Egypt, out of the great furnace:

21Porque não guardastes as minhas ordenanças, mas o vosso coração se ensoberbeceu, e fostes de dura cerviz diante de mim, indignei-me, e na ira vos entreguei à fornalha, na Babilônia.

21Because ye kept not my ordinances, but your heart was lifted up, and ye were stiff-necked before me, I was wroth, and in anger delivered you to the furnace, into Babylon.

22Se, pois, ouvirdes a minha voz, diz o Senhor, da boca de Jeremias, meu servo, todo aquele que ouvir, eu o farei subir da Babilônia; mas quem não ouvir será estrangeiro para Jerusalém e para a Babilônia.

22If therefore ye hearken unto my voice, saith the Lord, from the mouth of Jeremiah my servant, whoso hearkeneth, I will bring him up out of Babylon; but whoso hearkeneth not shall be a stranger to Jerusalem and to Babylon.

23E tu os provarás pela água do Jordão; aquele que não ouvir será manifesto; este é o sinal do grande selo.

23And thou shalt prove them by the water of the Jordan; he that hearkeneth not shall be made manifest; this is the sign of the great seal.
