4 Esdras 15

1Eis que fala aos ouvidos do meu povo as palavras de profecia, as quais porei na tua boca, diz o Senhor;

1Behold, speak thou in the ears of my people the words of prophecy, which I will put in thy mouth, saith the Lord:

2E faze que sejam escritas em papel, porque são fiéis e verdadeiras.

2And cause them to be written in paper: for they are faithful and true.

3Não temas as imaginações contra ti, nem te perturbe a incredulidade dos que falam contra ti.

3Fear not the imaginations against thee, let not the incredulity of them trouble thee, that speak against thee.

4Pois todos os infiéis morrerão na sua infidelidade.

4For all the unfaithful shall die in their unfaithfulness.

5Eis que, diz o Senhor, trarei pragas sobre o mundo: a espada, a fome, a morte e a destruição.

5Behold, saith the Lord, I will bring plagues upon the world; the sword, famine, death, and destruction.

6Pois a maldade poluiu excessivamente toda a terra, e as suas obras daninhas estão cumpridas.

6For wickedness hath exceedingly polluted the whole earth, and their hurtful works are fulfilled.

7Portanto, diz o Senhor:

7Therefore saith the Lord,

8Não me calarei mais quanto à sua maldade, que profanamente cometem, nem os tolerarei naquelas coisas em que perversamente se exercitam; eis que o sangue inocente e justo clama a mim, e as almas dos justos se queixam continuamente.

8I will hold my tongue no more as touching their wickedness, which they profanely commit, neither will I suffer them in those things, in which they wickedly exercise themselves: behold, the innocent and righteous blood crieth unto me, and the souls of the just complain continually.

9E, portanto, diz o Senhor, certamente os vingarei e receberei para mim todo o sangue inocente de entre eles.

9And therefore, saith the Lord, I will surely avenge them, and receive unto me all the innocent blood from among them.

10Eis que o meu povo é levado como um rebanho para o matadouro; não permitirei agora que habitem na terra do Egito;

10Behold, my people is led as a flock to the slaughter: I will not suffer them now to dwell in the land of Egypt:

11Mas os tirarei com mão poderosa e com braço estendido, e ferirei o Egito com pragas, como dantes, e destruirei toda a sua terra.

11But I will bring them with a mighty hand and a stretched out arm, and smite Egypt with plagues, as before, and will destroy all the land thereof.

12O Egito pranteará, e o seu fundamento será ferido com a praga e o castigo que Deus trará sobre ele.

12Egypt shall mourn, and the foundation of it shall be smitten with the plague and punishment that God shall bring upon it.

13Os que lavram a terra prantearão, porque as suas sementes falharão pela ferrugem e pela saraiva, e por uma terrível constelação.

13They that till the ground shall mourn: for their seeds shall fail through the blasting and hail, and with a fearful constellation.

14Ai do mundo e dos que nele habitam!

14Woe to the world and them that dwell therein!

15Pois a espada e a sua destruição se aproximam, e um povo se levantará e pelejará contra outro, com espadas nas suas mãos.

15For the sword and their destruction draweth nigh, and one people shall stand up and fight against another, and swords in their hands.

16Pois haverá sedição entre os homens e invasão mútua; não farão caso dos seus reis nem dos príncipes, e o curso das suas ações estará no seu poder.

16For there shall be sedition among men, and invading one another; they shall not regard their kings nor princes, and the course of their actions shall stand in their power.

17O homem desejará ir a uma cidade, e não poderá.

17A man shall desire to go into a city, and shall not be able.

18Pois por causa do seu orgulho as cidades serão turbadas, as casas serão destruídas e os homens terão medo.

18For because of their pride the cities shall be troubled, the houses shall be destroyed, and men shall be afraid.

19O homem não terá piedade do seu próximo, mas destruirá as suas casas à espada e despojará os seus bens, por causa da falta de pão e por grande tribulação.

19A man shall have no pity upon his neighbour, but shall destroy their houses with the sword, and spoil their goods, because of the lack of bread, and for great tribulation.

20Eis que, diz Deus, convocarei todos os reis da terra para me reverenciarem, os quais são do nascente do sol, do sul, do leste e do Líbano; para se voltarem uns contra os outros e retribuírem o que lhes fizeram.

20Behold, saith God, I will call together all the kings of the earth to reverence me, which are from the rising of the sun, from the south, from the east, and Libanus; to turn themselves one against another, and repay the things that they have done to them.

21Assim como ainda hoje fazem aos meus escolhidos, assim também eu farei, e lhes recompensarei no seu seio. Assim diz o Senhor Deus:

21Like as they do yet this day unto my chosen, so will I do also, and recompense in their bosom. Thus saith the Lord God;

22A minha destra não poupará os pecadores, e a minha espada não cessará sobre os que derramam sangue inocente sobre a terra.

22My right hand shall not spare the sinners, and my sword shall not cease over them that shed innocent blood upon the earth.

23O fogo saiu do seu furor e consumiu os fundamentos da terra e os pecadores, como a palha que se acende.

23The fire is gone forth from his wrath, and hath consumed the foundations of the earth, and the sinners, like the straw that is kindled.

24Ai dos que pecam e não guardam os meus mandamentos! diz o Senhor.

24Woe to them that sin, and keep not my commandments! saith the Lord.

25Não os pouparei; ide-vos, ó filhos, do poder, não profaneis o meu santuário.

25I will not spare them: go your way, ye children, from the power, defile not my sanctuary.

26Pois o Senhor conhece todos os que pecam contra ele, e por isso os entrega à morte e à destruição.

26For the Lord knoweth all them that sin against him, and therefore delivereth he them unto death and destruction.

27Pois agora as pragas vieram sobre toda a terra, e vós permanecereis nelas; pois Deus não vos livrará, porquanto pecastes contra ele.

27For now are the plagues come upon the whole earth and ye shall remain in them: for God shall not deliver you, because ye have sinned against him.

28Eis uma terrível visão e a aparência dela desde o oriente:

28Behold an horrible vision, and the appearance thereof from the east:

29Donde as nações dos dragões da Arábia sairão com muitos carros, e a sua multidão será levada como o vento sobre a terra, para que todos os que os ouvirem temam e tremam.

29Where the nations of the dragons of Arabia shall come out with many chariots, and the multitude of them shall be carried as the wind upon earth, that all they which hear them may fear and tremble.

30Também os carmânios enfurecidos na sua ira sairão como os javalis da floresta, e com grande poder virão e travarão batalha com eles, e assolarão uma parte da terra dos assírios.

30Also the Carmanians raging in wrath shall go forth as the wild boars of the wood, and with great power shall they come, and join battle with them, and shall waste a portion of the land of the Assyrians.

31E então os dragões prevalecerão, lembrando-se da sua natureza; e se eles se voltarem, conspirando em grande poder para persegui-los,

31And then shall the dragons have the upper hand, remembering their nature; and if they shall turn themselves, conspiring together in great power to persecute them,

32Então estes serão perturbados, e emudecerão pelo poder deles, e fugirão.

32Then these shall be troubled bled, and keep silence through their power, and shall flee.

33E da terra dos assírios o inimigo os cercará e consumirá alguns deles, e no seu exército haverá temor e pavor, e contenda entre os seus reis.

33And from the land of the Assyrians shall the enemy besiege them, and consume some of them, and in their host shall be fear and dread, and strife among their kings.

34Eis nuvens do oriente e do norte até o sul, e são mui terríveis de se ver, cheias de ira e de tempestade.

34Behold clouds from the east and from the north unto the south, and they are very horrible to look upon, full of wrath and storm.

35Abalroarão umas com as outras, e abaterão sobre a terra uma grande multidão de estrelas, até a sua própria estrela; e o sangue subirá da espada até o ventre,

35They shall smite one upon another, and they shall smite down a great multitude of stars upon the earth, even their own star; and blood shall be from the sword unto the belly,

36E o esterco dos homens até a jarrete do camelo.

36And dung of men unto the camel's hough.

37E haverá grande temor e tremor sobre a terra; e os que virem aquela ira ficarão atemorizados, e o tremor se apoderará deles.

37And there shall be great fearfulness and trembling upon earth: and they that see the wrath shall be afraid, and trembling shall come upon them.

38E então virão grandes tormentas do sul, e do norte, e outra parte do ocidente.

38And then shall there come great storms from the south, and from the north, and another part from the west.

39E ventos fortes se levantarão do oriente e o abrirão; e a nuvem que ele levantou em ira, e a estrela agitada para causar temor em direção ao vento oriental e ocidental, serão destruídas.

39And strong winds shall arise from the east, and shall open it; and the cloud which he raised up in wrath, and the star stirred to cause fear toward the east and west wind, shall be destroyed.

40As grandes e poderosas nuvens se incharão cheias de ira, e a estrela, para que atemorizem toda a terra e os que nela habitam; e derramarão sobre todo lugar alto e eminente uma horrível estrela,

40The great and mighty clouds shall be puffed up full of wrath, and the star, that they may make all the earth afraid, and them that dwell therein; and they shall pour out over every high and eminent place an horrible star,

41Fogo, e saraiva, e espadas voadoras, e muitas águas, para que todos os campos fiquem cheios, e todos os rios, com a abundância de grandes águas.

41Fire, and hail, and flying swords, and many waters, that all fields may be full, and all rivers, with the abundance of great waters.

42E derribarão as cidades e os muros, os montes e os outeiros, as árvores da floresta e a relva dos prados, e os seus cereais.

42And they shall break down the cities and walls, mountains and hills, trees of the wood, and grass of the meadows, and their corn.

43E irão firmemente até a Babilônia e a atemorizarão.

43And they shall go stedfastly unto Babylon, and make her afraid.

44Virão a ela e a cercarão; a estrela e toda a ira derramarão sobre ela; então a poeira e a fumaça subirão até o céu, e todos os que estiverem ao redor dela a prantearão.

44They shall come to her, and besiege her, the star and all wrath shall they pour out upon her: then shall the dust and smoke go up unto the heaven, and all they that be about her shall bewail her.

45E os que restarem debaixo dela servirão àqueles que a puseram em temor.

45And they that remain under her shall do service unto them that have put her in fear.

46E tu, Ásia, que és participante da esperança da Babilônia e és a glória da sua pessoa,

46And thou, Asia, that art partaker of the hope of Babylon, and art the glory of her person:

47Ai de ti, desgraçada, porque te fizeste semelhante a ela, e adornaste as tuas filhas na prostituição, para que agradassem e se gloriassem nos teus amantes, que sempre desejaram fornicar contigo!

47Woe be unto thee, thou wretch, because thou hast made thyself like unto her; and hast decked thy daughters in whoredom, that they might please and glory in thy lovers, which have always desired to commit whoredom with thee.

48Seguiste aquela que é aborrecida em todas as suas obras e invenções; portanto, diz Deus:

48Thou hast followed her that is hated in all her works and inventions: therefore saith God,

49Enviarei pragas sobre ti: viuvez, pobreza, fome, espada e pestilência, para assolar as tuas casas com destruição e morte.

49I will send plagues upon thee; widowhood, poverty, famine, sword, and pestilence, to waste thy houses with destruction and death.

50E a glória do teu poder secará como uma flor, quando se levantar o calor que é enviado sobre ti.

50And the glory of thy Power shall be dried up as a flower, the heat shall arise that is sent over thee.

51Ficarás debilitada como uma mulher pobre com açoites, e como ferida com chagas, de modo que os poderosos e os amantes não poderão receber-te.

51Thou shalt be weakened as a poor woman with stripes, and as one chastised with wounds, so that the mighty and lovers shall not be able to receive thee.

52Porventura eu teria procedido com tamanho ciúme contra ti, diz o Senhor,

52Would I with jealousy have so proceeded against thee, saith the Lord,

53Se não tivesses matado sempre os meus escolhidos, exaltando o golpe das tuas mãos e dizendo sobre os seus mortos, quando estavas embriagada:

53If thou hadst not always slain my chosen, exalting the stroke of thine hands, and saying over their dead, when thou wast drunken,

54Mostra a formosura do teu semblante?

54Set forth the beauty of thy countenance?

55A recompensa da tua prostituição estará no teu seio; portanto, receberás retribuição.

55The reward of thy whoredom shall be in thy bosom, therefore shalt thou receive recompence.

56Como fizeste aos meus escolhidos, diz o Senhor, assim Deus te fará, e te entregará no mal.

56Like as thou hast done unto my chosen, saith the Lord, even so shall God do unto thee, and shall deliver thee into mischief

57Teus filhos morrerão de fome, e tu cairás à espada; tuas cidades serão derribadas, e todos os teus perecerão à espada no campo.

57Thy children shall die of hunger, and thou shalt fall through the sword: thy cities shall be broken down, and all thine shall perish with the sword in the field.

58Os que estiverem nos montes morrerão de fome, e comerão a sua própria carne e beberão o seu próprio sangue, de muita fome de pão e sede de água.

58They that be in the mountains shall die of hunger, and eat their own flesh, and drink their own blood, for very hunger of bread, and thirst of water.

59Tu como infeliz virás pelo mar e receberás pragas outra vez.

59Thou as unhappy shalt come through the sea, and receive plagues again.

60E na travessia acometerão a cidade ociosa, e destruirão uma parte da tua terra, e consumirão parte da tua glória, e voltarão para a Babilônia que foi destruída.

60And in the passage they shall rush on the idle city, and shall destroy some portion of thy land, and consume part of thy glory, and shall return to Babylon that was destroyed.

61E serás abatida por eles como o restolho, e eles te serão como fogo;

61And thou shalt be cast down by them as stubble, and they shall be unto thee as fire;

62E te consumirão, e às tuas cidades, à tua terra e aos teus montes; todas as tuas matas e as tuas árvores frutíferas queimarão a fogo.

62And shall consume thee, and thy cities, thy land, and thy mountains; all thy woods and thy fruitful trees shall they burn up with fire.

63Levarão cativos os teus filhos e despojarão tudo o que tens, e corromperão a formosura da tua face.

63Thy children shall they carry away captive, and, look, what thou hast, they shall spoil it, and mar the beauty of thy face.
