1 Adão e Eva 3

1Disse Deus a Adão: "Ordenei nesta terra dias e anos, e tu e tua semente habitareis e andareis nela até que se cumpram os dias e os anos; quando então enviarei a Palavra que te criou, e contra a qual transgrediste, a Palavra que te fez sair do jardim e que te levantou quando estavas caído.

1God said to Adam, "I have ordained on this earth days and years, and you and your descendants shall live and walk in them, until the days and years are fulfilled; when I shall send the Word that created you, and against which you have transgressed, the Word that made you come out of the garden, and that raised you when you were fallen.

2Sim, a Palavra que novamente te há de salvar quando se cumprirem os cinco dias e meio."

2Yes, the Word that will again save you when the five and a half days are fulfilled."

3Mas quando Adão ouviu estas palavras de Deus a respeito dos grandes cinco dias e meio, não compreendeu o sentido delas.

3But when Adam heard these words from God, and of the great five and a half days, he did not understand the meaning of them.

4Pois cuidava Adão que haveria somente cinco dias e meio para ele até o fim do mundo.

4For Adam was thinking there would be only five and a half days for him until the end of the world.

5E chorou Adão, e suplicou a Deus que lho fizesse entender.

5And Adam cried, and prayed to God to explain it to him.

6Então Deus, na Sua misericórdia para com Adão, que fora criado à Sua imagem e semelhança, explicou-lhe que estes eram cinco mil e quinhentos anos; e como então Viria Um que o salvaria a ele e à sua descendência.

6Then God in his mercy for Adam who was made after His own image and likeness, explained to him, that these were 5,000 and 500 years; and how One would then come and save him and his descendants.

7Mas antes disso Deus havia feito este pacto com nosso pai Adão, nos mesmos termos, antes que ele saísse do jardim, quando estava junto à árvore da qual Eva tomou o fruto e lho deu a comer.

7But before that, God had made this covenant with our father, Adam, in the same terms, before he came out of the garden, when he was by the tree where Eve took of the fruit and gave it to him to eat.

8Porquanto, ao sair nosso pai Adão do jardim, passou por aquela árvore e viu como Deus havia mudado a sua aparência em outra forma, e como ela se secou.

8Because, when our father Adam came out of the garden, he passed by that tree, and saw how God had changed the appearance of it into another form, and how it shriveled.

9E aproximando-se Adão dela, temeu, estremeceu e caiu por terra; mas Deus, na Sua misericórdia, o levantou e fez então com ele este concerto.

9And as Adam went to it he feared, trembled and fell down; but God in His mercy lifted him up, and then made this covenant with him.

10E ainda, quando Adão estava junto à porta do jardim e viu o querubim com uma espada de fogo fulgurante na mão, e o querubim se irou e franziu o rosto para ele, Adão e Eva temeram-no e pensaram que ele pretendia matá-los. Então caíram sobre os rostos e tremeram de medo.

10And again, when Adam was by the gate of the garden, and saw the cherub with a sword of flashing fire in his hand, and the cherub grew angry and frowned at him, both Adam and Eve became afraid of him, and thought he meant to put them to death. So they fell on their faces, trembled with fear.

11Ele, porém, apiedou-se deles e lhes mostrou misericórdia; e retirando-se deles, subiu ao céu e orou ao Senhor, dizendo:

11But he had pity on them, and showed them mercy; and turning from them went up to heaven, and prayed to the Lord, and said;—

12"Senhor, enviaste-me a guardar a porta do jardim com uma espada de fogo.

12"Lord, You sent me to watch at the gate of the garden, with a sword of fire.

13Mas quando os Teus servos, Adão e Eva, me viram, caíram sobre os seus rostos e ficaram como mortos. Ó meu Senhor, que faremos aos Teus servos?"

13But when Your servants, Adam and Eve, saw me, they fell on their faces, and were as dead. O my Lord, what shall we do to Your servants?"

14Então Deus teve compaixão deles, e usou de misericórdia para com eles, e enviou o Seu Anjo para guardar o jardim.

14Then God had pity on them, and showed them mercy, and sent His Angel to keep the garden.

15E veio a Palavra do Senhor a Adão e a Eva, e os ergueu.

15And the Word of the Lord came to Adam and Eve, and raised them up.

16E disse o Senhor a Adão: "Eu te disse que ao cabo de cinco dias e meio enviarei a Minha Palavra e te salvarei.

16And the Lord said to Adam, "I told you that at the end of the five and a half days, I will send my Word and save you.

17Fortalece, pois, o teu coração e permanece na Caverna dos Tesouros, da qual já antes te falei."

17Strengthen your heart, therefore, and stay in the Cave of Treasures, of which I have before spoken to you."

18E quando Adão ouviu esta Palavra de Deus, consolou-se com o que Deus lhe dissera; pois lhe havia anunciado como o havia de salvar.

18And when Adam heard this Word from God, he was comforted with that which God had told him. For He had told him how He would save him.
