Apocalipse de Abraão 1

1O Livro da Revelação de Abraão, filho de Terá, filho de Naor, filho de Serugue, filho de Roog (Reú), filho de Arfaxade, filho de Sem, filho de Noé, filho de Lameque, filho de Matusalém, filho de Enoque, filho de Tared (Arade).

1The Book of the Revelation of Abraham, the son of Terah, the son of Nahor, the son of Serug, the son of Roog (Reu), the son of Arphaxad, the son of Shem, the son of Noah, the son of Lamech, the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Tared (Arad).

2No dia em que eu aplainava os deuses de meu pai Terá e os deuses de Naor, seu irmão, quando buscava saber quem é, em verdade, o Deus Poderoso — eu, Abraão, no tempo em que me coube cumprir os serviços (os sacrifícios) de meu pai Terá aos seus deuses de madeira e pedra, ouro e prata, bronze e ferro; tendo entrado no templo deles para o serviço, encontrei o deus chamado Merumate (que era) talhado em pedra, caído de frente aos pés do deus de ferro Naom.

2On the day when I planed the gods of my father Terah and the gods of Nahor his brother when I was searching as to who the Mighty God in truth is — I, Abraham, at the time when it fell to my lot, when I fulfilled the services (the sacrifices) of my father Terah to his gods of wood and stone, gold and silver, brass and iron; having entered into their temple for service, I found the god whose name was Merumath (which was) hewn out of stone, fallen forward at the feet of the iron god Nahon.

3E aconteceu que, ao vê-lo, meu coração ficou perplexo, e considerei em minha mente que eu, Abraão, sozinho, não conseguiria trazê-lo de volta ao seu lugar, pois era pesado, sendo feito de uma grande pedra; então saí e dei a conhecer o fato a meu pai.

3And it came to pass, when I saw it, my heart was perplexed, and I considered in my mind that I should not be able to bring him back to his place, I, Abraham, alone, because he was heavy, being of a large stone, and I went forth and made it known to my father.

4Ele entrou comigo e, quando nós dois o movemos (o deus) para a frente, a fim de trazê-lo de volta ao seu lugar, sua cabeça se desprendeu enquanto eu ainda a segurava.

4And he entered with me, and when both of us moved him (the god) forward, so that we might bring him back to his place, his head fell from him while I was still holding him by the head.

5E aconteceu que, quando meu pai viu que a cabeça de Merumate havia se desprendido dele, disse-me: "Abraão!" E eu disse: "Aqui estou."

5And it came to pass, when my father saw that the head of Merumath had fallen from him, he said to me: "Abraham!" And I said: "Here am I."

6E ele me disse: "Traga-me de casa um machado dos pequenos."

6And he said to me: "Bring me an axe, of the small ones, from the house."

7E eu o trouxe para ele.

7And I brought it to him.

8Então ele talhou devidamente outro Merumate de outra pedra, sem cabeça, e colocou nele a cabeça que caíra de Merumate; quanto ao restante de Merumate, despedaçou-o.

8And he hewed aright another Merumath out of another stone, without head, and the head which had been thrown down from Merumath he placed upon it, and the rest of Merumath he shattered.
