Apocalipse de Abraão 12

1E fomos nós dois juntos por quarenta dias e noites; não comi pão nem bebi água, porque meu alimento era ver o anjo que estava comigo, e sua fala — essa era minha bebida.

1And we went, the two of us together, forty days and nights, and I ate no bread, and drank no water, because my food was to see the angel who was with me, and his speech — that was my drink.

2Chegamos ao Monte de Deus, o glorioso Horebe.

2And we came to the Mount of God, the glorious Horeb.

3E eu disse ao anjo: "Cantor do Eterno!

3And I said to the angel: "Singer of the Eternal One!

4Eis que não tenho comigo sacrifício, nem conheço o lugar de um altar no monte: como poderei oferecer um sacrifício?" E ele me disse: "Olha ao redor!" Olhei ao redor, e eis que nos seguiam todos os (animais) prescritos para o sacrifício — a novilha, a cabra, o carneiro, a rola e o pombo.

4Lo! I have no sacrifice with me, nor am I aware of a place of an altar on the mountain: how can I bring a sacrifice?" And he said to me: "Look round!" And I looked round, and lo! there were following us all the prescribed sacrificial (animals) — the young heifer, and the she-goat, and the ram, and the turtle-dove, and the pigeon.

5E o anjo me disse: "Abraão!" Respondi: "Aqui estou."

5And the angel said to me: "Abraham!" I said: "Here am I."

6E ele me disse: "Abate todos estes e divide os animais em metades, uma diante da outra, mas não separes as aves; e ("mas") entrega aos homens que te mostrarei, que estão de pé ao teu lado, pois eles são o altar sobre o Monte, para oferecer sacrifício ao Eterno; mas entrega a rola e o pombo a mim, pois subirei nas asas da ave para mostrar-te o que há no céu, na terra, no mar, no abismo, no mundo inferior, no Jardim do Éden, em seus rios e em toda a plenitude do mundo e de seu círculo — contemplarás tudo (isso)."

6And he said to me: "All these slaughter, and divide the animals into halves, one against the other, but the birds do not sever; and ("but ") give to the men, whom I will shew thee, standing by thee, for these are the altar upon the Mountain, to offer a sacrifice to the Eternal; but the turtledove and the pigeon give to me, for I will ascend upon the wings of the bird, in order to shew thee in heaven, and on the earth, and in the sea, and in the abyss, and in the under-world, and in the Garden of Eden, and in its rivers and in the fulness of the whole world and its circle — thou shalt gaze in (them) all."
