Apocalipse de Abraão 25

1Vi ali a semelhança do ídolo do ciúme, com aspecto de trabalho em madeira como o que meu pai costumava fazer; sua estátua era de bronze reluzente; diante dela havia um homem que a adorava; diante dele, um altar e, sobre o altar, um menino morto na presença do ídolo.

1I saw there the likeness of the idol of jealousy, having the likeness of woodwork such as my father was wont to make, and its statue was of glittering bronze; and before it a man, and he worshipped it; and in front of him an altar, and upon it a boy slain in the presence of the idol.

2Mas eu Lhe disse: "Que é este ídolo, que é o altar, quem são os sacrificados e quem é o sacrificador?

2But I said to Him: " What is this idol, or what is the altar, or who are they that are sacrificed, or who is the sacrificer?

3E que é o Templo que vejo, belo em sua feitura, cuja beleza (é como) a glória que se estende sob Teu trono?" E Ele disse: "Ouve, Abraão.

3Or what is the Temple which I see that is beautiful in art, and its beauty (being like) the glory that lieth beneath Thy throne? " And He said: " Hear, Abraham.

4Isto que vês, o Templo, o altar e a beleza, é minha ideia do sacerdócio de meu Nome glorioso, no qual habita toda oração dos homens, e a ascensão de reis e profetas, e todo sacrifício que eu ordenar que me seja oferecido entre meu povo, que virá de tua geração.

4This which thou seest, the Temple and altar and beauty, is my idea of the priesthood of my glorious Name, in which dwelleth every single prayer of man, and the rise of kings and prophets, and whatever sacrifice I ordain to be offered to me among my people who are to come out of thy generation.

5Mas a estátua que viste é minha ira, com que o povo que procederá de ti para mim me provoca à ira.

5But the statue which thou sawest is mine anger wherewith the people anger me who are to proceed for me from thee.

6Mas o homem que viste matando é aquele que incita sacrifícios homicidas, os quais são para mim testemunho do juízo final, mesmo no princípio da criação."

6But the man whom thou sawest slaughtering — that is he who inciteth murderous sacrifices, of which are a witness to me of the final judgement, even at the beginning of creation."
