Apocalipse de Abraão 4

1Enquanto assim ponderava, cheguei à casa de meu pai; tendo dado água ao jumento e posto feno diante dele, trouxe a prata e a entreguei nas mãos de meu pai Terá.

1And while I cogitated thus, I reached my father's house; and having watered the ass, and set out hay for it, I brought the silver and gave it into the hand of my father Terah.

2Ao vê-la, ele se alegrou [e] disse: "Bendito és tu, Abraão, por meus deuses, porque trouxeste o preço dos deuses, de modo que meu trabalho não foi em vão."

2When he saw it he was glad, [and] he said: "Blessed art thou, Abraham, of my gods, because thou hast brought the price of the gods, so that my work was not in vain."

3E eu lhe respondi: "Ouve, ó meu pai Terá!

3And I answered and said to him: "Hear, O my father, Terah!

4Benditos são teus deuses, pois tu és o deus deles, visto que os fizeste; a bênção deles é ruína, e seu poder é vão; eles, que não ajudaram a si mesmos, como poderão então ajudar-te ou abençoar-me?

4Blessed are the gods of thee, for thou art their god, since thou hast made them; for their blessing is ruination, and their power is vain; they who did not help themselves, how shall they, then, help thee or bless me?

5Fui bondoso contigo neste assunto, porque, (usando) minha inteligência, trouxe-te o dinheiro pelos deuses quebrados."

5I have been kind to thee in this affair, because by (using) my intelligence, I have brought thee the money for the broken gods."

6E, quando ele ouviu minhas palavras, ficou furiosamente irado comigo, porque eu havia proferido palavras duras contra seus deuses.

6And when he heard my word, he became furiously angry with me, because I had spoken hard words against his gods.
