Apocalipse de Paulo 14

1Eu, na verdade, quando ouvi isto, suspirei e chorei, e disse ao anjo: Desejava ver as almas dos justos e dos pecadores, e ver de que maneira saem do corpo.

1I indeed when I had heard this sighed and wept, and said to the angel: I wished to see the souls of the just and of sinners, and to see in what manner they go out of the body.

2E o anjo respondeu e disse-me: Olha de novo para a terra.

2And the angel answered and said unto me: Look again upon the earth.

3E olhei e vi todo o mundo, e os homens eram como nada e faltando: e olhei com cuidado e vi certo homem prestes a morrer, e o anjo disse-me: Este que vês é um homem justo.

3And I looked and saw all the world, and men were as naught and a-wanting: and I looked carefully and saw a certain man about to die, and the angel said to me: This one whom thou seest is a just man.

4E olhei de novo e vi todas as suas obras, tudo o que fizera por amor do nome de Deus, e todos os seus desejos, tanto o que lembrava como o que não lembrava; todos estavam diante dele na hora da necessidade; e vi o justo avançar e achar alívio e confiança, e antes que saísse do mundo os anjos santos e os ímpios estavam ambos presentes: e vi-os todos, mas os ímpios não acharam nele lugar de habitação, mas os santos tomaram posse da sua alma, guiando-a até que saísse do corpo: e despertaram a alma, dizendo: Alma, reconhece o teu corpo de onde sais, pois é necessário que voltes ao mesmo corpo no dia da ressurreição, para que recebas as coisas prometidas a todos os justos.

4And I looked again and saw all his works, whatever he had done for the sake of God's name, and all his desires, both what he remembered, and what he did not remember; they all stood in his sight in the hour of need; and I saw the just man advance and find refreshment and confidence, and before he went out of the world the holy and the impious angels both attended: and I saw them all, but the impious found no place of habitation in him, but the holy took possession of his soul, guiding it till it went out of the body: and they roused the soul saying: Soul, know thy body whence thou goest out, for it is necessary that thou shouldst return to the same body on the day of the resurrection, that thou mayest receive the things promised to all the just.

5Recebendo, portanto, a alma do corpo, imediatamente a beijaram como familiarmente conhecida deles, dizendo-lhe: Anima-te, pois fizeste a vontade de Deus enquanto estavas posta na terra.

5Receiving therefore the soul from the body, they immediately kissed it as familiarly known to them, saying to it: Do manfully, for thou hast done the will of God while placed in the earth.

6E veio ao seu encontro o anjo que o guardava todos os dias, e disse-lhe: Anima-te, alma; pois me alegro em ti, porque fizeste a vontade de Deus na terra: pois relatei a Deus todas as tuas obras, tais como eram.

6And there came to meet him the angel who watched him every day, and said to him: Do manfully, soul; for I rejoice in thee, because thou hast done the will of God on earth: for I related to God all thy works, such as they were.

7Do mesmo modo também o espírito veio ao seu encontro e disse: Alma, não temas, nem te perturbes, até que chegues a um lugar que nunca conheceste, mas eu serei um auxiliador para ti: pois achei em ti um lugar de alívio no tempo em que habitei em ti, enquanto estava na terra.

7Similarly also the spirit proceeded to meet him and said: Soul, fear not, nor be disturbed, until thou comest into a place which thou hast never known, but I will be a helper unto thee: for I found in thee a place of refreshment in the time when I dwelt in thee, while I was on earth.

8E o seu espírito o fortaleceu, e o seu anjo o recebeu e o levou ao céu: e um anjo disse: Para onde corres, ó alma, e ousas entrar no céu?

8And his spirit strengthened him, and his angel received him, and led him into heaven: and an angel said: Whither runnest thou, O soul, and dost thou dare to enter into heaven?

9Espera e vejamos se há algo nosso em ti: e eis que nada achamos em ti.

9Wait and let us see if there is anything of ours in thee: and behold we find nothing in thee.

10Vejo também o teu divino auxiliador e anjo, e o espírito se alegra contigo, porque fizeste a vontade de Deus na terra.

10I see also thy divine helper and angel, and the spirit is rejoicing along with thee, because thou hast done the will of God on earth.

11E conduziram-no até que adorasse à vista de Deus.

11And they led him along till he should worship in the sight of God.

12E quando cessaram, imediatamente Miguel e todo o exército dos anjos, a uma só voz, adoraram o escabelo dos seus pés e a sua sentença, dizendo ao mesmo tempo à alma: Este é o vosso Deus de todas as coisas, que vos fez à sua imagem e semelhança.

12And when they had ceased, immediately Michael and all the army of angels, with one voice, adored the footstool of his feet, and his doom, saying at the same time to the soul: This is your God of all things, who made you in his own image and likeness.

13Além disso o anjo volta e o aponta, dizendo: Deus, lembra-te dos seus trabalhos: pois esta é a alma cujas obras te relatei, agindo segundo o teu juízo.

13Moreover the angel returns and points him out saying: God, remember his labours: for this is the soul, whose works I related to thee, doing according to thy judgment.

14E o espírito disse igualmente: Sou o espírito de vivificação que o inspirava: pois tive alívio nele, no tempo em que habitei nele, agindo segundo o teu juízo.

14And the spirit said likewise: I am the spirit of vivification inspiring him: for I had refreshment in him, in the time when I dwelt in him, doing according to thy judgment.

15E veio a voz de Deus e disse: Visto que este homem não me afligiu, tampouco o afligirei; pois conforme teve piedade, também eu terei piedade.

15And there came the voice of God and said: In as much as this man did not vex me, neither will I vex him; for according as he had pity, I also will have pity.

16Seja, portanto, entregue a Miguel, o anjo da Aliança, e que ele o conduza ao Paraíso da alegria, para que ele próprio seja co-herdeiro com todos os santos.

16Let him therefore be handed over to Michael, the angel of the Covenant, and let him lead him into the Paradise of joy, that he himself may become co-heir with all the saints.

17E depois disto ouvi as vozes de mil milhares de anjos, e arcanjos, e querubins, e vinte e quatro anciãos, cantando hinos e glorificando o Senhor e clamando: tu és justo, ó Senhor, e justos são os teus juízos, e não há em ti acepção de pessoas, mas recompensas a cada homem segundo o teu juízo.

17And after these things I heard the voices of a thousand thousand angels, and archangels, and cherubim, and twenty-four elders saying hymns, and glorifying the Lord and crying: thou art just, O Lord, and just are thy judgments, and there is no acceptance of persons with thee, but thou rewardest unto every man according to thy judgment.

18E o anjo respondeu e disse-me: Creste e soubeste que tudo o que cada um de vós fez, vê na hora da necessidade?

18And the angel answered and said unto me: Hast thou believed and known, that whatever each man of you has done, he sees in the hour of need?

19E eu disse: Sim, senhor.

19And I said: Yes, sir.
