Apocalipse de Paulo 22

1E olhei em redor sobre aquela terra e vi um rio que corria leite e mel, e havia árvores plantadas à margem daquele rio, cheias de fruto: além disso cada árvore dava doze frutos no ano, tendo frutos vários e diversos: e vi as coisas criadas que estão naquele lugar e toda a obra de Deus, e vi ali palmeiras de vinte côvados, mas outras de dez côvados: e aquela terra era sete vezes mais brilhante que a prata.

1And I looked around upon that land and I saw a river flowing of milk and honey, and there were trees planted by the bank of that river, full of fruit: moreover each single tree bore twelve fruits in the year, having various and diverse fruits: and I saw the created things which are in that place and all the work of God, and I saw there palms of twenty cubits, but others of ten cubits: and that land was seven times brighter than silver.

2E havia árvores cheias de frutos desde as raízes até os mais altos ramos, de dez mil frutos de palmeiras sobre dez mil frutos.

2And there were trees full of fruits from the roots to the highest branches, of ten thousand fruits of palms upon ten thousand fruits.

3As videiras, além disso, tinham dez mil plantas.

3The grape-vines moreover had ten thousand plants.

4Além disso nas vinhas isoladas havia dez mil milhares de cachos e em cada um deles mil bagos isolados: além disso essas árvores isoladas davam mil frutos.

4Moreover in the single vines there were ten thousand thousand bunches and in each of these a thousand single grapes: moreover these single trees bore a thousand fruits.

5E eu disse ao anjo: Por que cada árvore dá mil frutos?

5And I said to the angel, Why does each tree bear a thousand fruits?

6O anjo respondeu e disse-me: Porque o Senhor Deus dá uma abundante torrente de dons aos dignos, porque eles também, por sua própria vontade, se afligiram quando foram postos no mundo, fazendo todas as coisas por causa do seu santo nome.

6The angel answered and said unto me, Because the Lord God gives an abounding flood of gifts to the worthy, because they also of their own will afflicted themselves when they were placed in the world doing all things on account of his holy name.

7E de novo eu disse ao anjo: Senhor, são estas as únicas promessas que faz o Deus Santíssimo?

7And again I said to the angel, Sir, are these the only promises which the Most Holy God makes?

8E ele respondeu e disse-me: Não! há outras sete vezes maiores que estas.

8And he answered and said to me: No! there are seven times greater than these.

9Mas digo-te que, quando os justos saírem do corpo, verão as promessas e os bens que Deus lhes preparou.

9But I say unto thee that when the just go out of the body they shall see the promises and the good things which God has prepared for them.

10Até então suspirarão e lamentarão, dizendo: Emitimos alguma palavra da nossa boca para afligir o nosso próximo, ainda que num só dia?

10Till then, they shall sigh, and lament saying: Have we emitted any word from our mouth to vex our neighbour even on one day?

11Perguntei e disse de novo: São estas só as promessas de Deus?

11I asked and said again: Are these alone the promises of God?

12E o anjo respondeu e disse-me: Estes que agora vês são as almas dos casados e dos que guardaram a castidade das suas núpcias, contendo-se.

12And the angel answered and said unto me: These whom you now see are the souls of the married and those who kept the chastity of their nuptials, containing themselves.

13Mas às virgens, e aos que têm fome e sede de justiça, e aos que se afligiram por amor do nome de Deus, Deus dará sete vezes mais que estas coisas, que agora te mostrarei.

13But to the virgins and those who hunger and thirst after righteousness and those who afflicted themselves for the sake of the name of God, God will give seven times greater than these, which I shall now show thee.

14E então ele me levou daquele lugar onde vi estas coisas, e eis um rio, e as suas águas eram muito mais brancas que o leite, e eu disse ao anjo: Que é isto?

14And then he took me up from that place where I saw these things and behold, a river, and its waters were greatly whiter than milk, and I said to the angel, What is this?

15E ele me disse: Este é o Lago Aquerusiano, onde está a Cidade de Cristo, mas não é permitido a todo homem entrar naquela cidade; pois este é o caminho que leva a Deus, e se alguém é fornicador e ímpio, e se converte e se arrepende e faz frutos dignos de arrependimento, no princípio, quando tiver saído do corpo, é levado e adora a Deus, e dali, por ordem do Senhor, é entregue ao anjo Miguel e este o batiza no Lago Aquerusiano--assim os conduz à Cidade de Cristo, junto com os que nunca pecaram.

15And he said to me: This is the Acherousian Lake where is the City of Christ, but not every man is permitted to enter that city; for this is the journey which leads to God, and if anyone is a fornicator and impious, and is converted and shall repent and do fruits worthy of repentance, at first indeed when he shall have gone out of the body, he is led and adores God, and thence by command of the Lord he is delivered to the angel Michael and he baptizes him in the Acherousian Lake--thus he leads them into the City of Christ alongside of those who have never sinned.

16Mas eu me maravilhei e bendisse ao Senhor Deus por todas as coisas que vi.

16But I wondered and blessed the Lord God for all the things which I saw.
