Apocalipse de Paulo 49

1Quando falou até aqui, vieram outros doze, e, vendo-me, disseram: És tu Paulo, o glorificado no céu e na terra?

1When he had spoken thus far, there came other twelve, and seeing me said: Art thou Paul the glorified in heaven and on earth?

2E eu respondi e disse: Quem sois vós?

2And I answered and said: What are ye?

3O primeiro respondeu e disse: Sou Isaías, a quem Manassés serrou ao meio com uma serra de madeira.

3The first answered and said: I am Esaias whom Manasses cut asunder with a wooden saw.

4E o segundo disse igualmente: Sou Jeremias, que foi apedrejado pelos filhos de Israel e morto.

4And the second said likewise: I am Jeremias who was stoned by the children of Israel and slain.

5E o terceiro disse: Sou Ezequiel, a quem os filhos de Israel arrastaram pelos pés sobre uma rocha num monte até que me esmigalharam os miolos, e suportamos todos estes trabalhos, querendo salvar os filhos de Israel: e digo-te que, depois dos trabalhos que me impuseram, lancei-me de rosto em terra à vista do Senhor, orando por eles, dobrando os joelhos até a segunda hora do dia do Senhor, até que Miguel veio e me levantou da terra.

5And the third said: I am Ezekiel whom the children of Israel dragged by the feet over a rock in a mountain till they knocked out my brains, and we endured all these toils, wishing to save the children of Israel: and I say unto thee that after the toils which they laid upon me, I cast myself on my face in the sight of the Lord praying for them, bending my knees until the second hour of the Lord's day, till Michael came and lifted me up from the earth.

6Bem-aventurado és tu, Paulo, e bem-aventurada a nação que creu por meio de ti.

6Blessed art thou, Paul, and blessed the nation which believed through thee.

7E enquanto estes passavam, vi outro, belo de semblante, e perguntei: Senhor, quem é este?

7And as these passed by, I saw another, beautiful of countenance, and I asked: Sir, Who is this?

8O qual, quando me viu, alegrou-se e disse-me: Este é Ló, que foi achado justo em Sodoma.

8Who when he had seen me, rejoiced and said to me: This is Lot who was found just in Sodom.

9E aproximando-se saudou-me e disse: Bem-aventurado és tu, Paulo, e bem-aventurada a geração a que serviste.

9And approaching he saluted me and said: Blessed art thou, Paul, and blessed the generation to which thou didst minister.

10E eu respondi e disse-lhe: És tu Ló, que foste achado justo em Sodoma?

10And I answered and said to him: Art thou Lot who wast found just in Sodom?

11E ele disse: Hospedei anjos, como viajantes, e quando os da cidade quiseram violá-los, ofereci-lhes as minhas duas filhas virgens que ainda não tinham conhecido homens, e as dei a eles, dizendo: usai-as como quiserdes, mas só a estes homens não fareis mal algum; por esta causa entraram sob o teto da minha casa.

11And he said: I entertained angels, as travellers, and when they of the city wished to violate them, I offered them my two virgin daughters who had not yet known men, and gave them to them saying: use them as ye will, but only to these men ye shall do no evil; for this cause they entered under the roof of my house.

12Por esta causa, portanto, devemos estar confiantes e saber que, se alguém tiver feito alguma coisa, Deus lho pagará multiplicado quando vierem a ele.

12For this cause, therefore, we ought to be confident and know that if anyone shall have done anything, God shall repay him manifold when they shall come to him.

13Bem-aventurado és tu, Paulo, e bem-aventurada a nação que creu na tua palavra.

13Blessed art thou, Paul, and blessed the nation which believed in thy word.

14Quando, pois, cessou de falar comigo, vi outro que vinha de longe, muito belo de semblante, e sorrindo, e os seus anjos cantando hinos: e disse ao anjo que estava comigo: Tem então cada um dos justos um anjo por companheiro?

14When, therefore, he had ceased talking to me, I saw another coming from a distance, very beautiful of countenance, and smiling, and his angels saying hymns: and I said to the angel who was with me: Has then each of the just an angel for companion?

15E ele me disse: Cada um dos santos tem o seu próprio (anjo) que o assiste e diz um hino, e um não se afasta do outro.

15And he said to me: Each one of the saints has his own (angel) assisting him, and saying a hymn, and the one does not depart from the other.

16E eu disse: Quem é este, Senhor?

16And I said: Who is this, Sir?

17E ele disse: Este é Jó.

17And he said: This is Job.

18E aproximando-se, saudou-me e disse: Irmão Paulo, tens grande louvor diante de Deus e dos homens.

18And approaching, he saluted me and said: Brother Paul, thou hast great praise with God and men.

19E eu sou Jó, que trabalhei muito por um período de trinta anos de uma praga no sangue; e em verdade, no princípio, as chagas que saíam do meu corpo eram como grãos de trigo.

19And I am Job, who laboured much for a period of thirty years from a plague in the blood; and verily in the beginning, the wounds which went forth from my body were like grains of wheat.

20Mas no terceiro dia tornaram-se como o pé de um jumento; e vermes, além disso, que caíam com quatro dedos de comprimento: e no terceiro (dia) o diabo apareceu e disse-me: Dize algo contra Deus e morre.

20But on the third day, they became as the foot of an ass; worms moreover which fell four digits in length: and on the third (day) the devil appeared and said to me: Say something against God and die.

21Eu lhe disse: Se tal é a vontade de Deus, que eu permaneça sob uma praga todo o tempo da minha vida até morrer, não cessarei de bendizer ao Senhor, e receberei maior recompensa.

21I said to him: If such be the will of God that I should remain under a plague all the time of my life till I die, I shall not cease from blessing the Lord, and I shall receive more reward.

22Pois sei que os trabalhos daquele mundo não são nada comparados com o alívio que vem depois: por cuja causa és bem-aventurado, Paulo, e bem-aventurada a nação que creu por meio de ti.

22For I know that the labours of that world are nothing to the refreshment which is afterwards: for which cause blessed art thou, Paul, and blessed the nation which believed through thee.
