Testamento dos 12 Patriarcas 3

1A cópia das palavras de Levi, as coisas que ele ordenou a seus filhos, conforme tudo o que deveriam fazer e o que lhes sucederia até o dia do juízo. Ele estava são quando os chamou, pois lhe fora revelado que morreria. E, quando se reuniram, disse-lhes:

1The copy of the words of Levi, the things which he ordained unto his sons, according to all that they should do, and what things should befall them until the day of judgement. He was sound in health when he called them to him; for it had been revealed to him that he should die. And when they were gathered together he said to them:

2Eu, Levi, nasci em Harã e vim com meu pai a Siquém. E era jovem, de cerca de vinte anos, quando, com Simeão, tomei vingança de Hamor por nossa irmã Diná. E, quando apascentava os rebanhos em Abel-Maul, veio sobre mim o espírito de entendimento do Senhor; e vi que todos os homens corrompiam o seu caminho, que a injustiça erguera para si muros, e que a transgressão se assentava sobre torres. E eu me afligia pela raça dos filhos dos homens e orei ao Senhor para que me salvasse. Então caiu sobre mim um sono, e contemplei um monte alto; e eu estava sobre ele. E eis que os céus se abriram, e um anjo de Deus me disse: Levi, entra. E entrei no primeiro céu e vi ali um grande mar suspenso.

2I, Levi, was born in Haran, and I came with my father to Shechem. And I was young, about twenty years of age, when, with Simeon, I wrought vengeance on Hamor for our sister Dinah. And when I was feeding the flocks in Abel-Maul, the spirit of understanding of the Lord came upon me, and I saw all men corrupting their way, and that unrighteousness had built for itself walls, and lawlessness sat upon towers. And I was grieving for the race of the sons of men, and I prayed to the Lord that I might be saved. Then there fell upon me a sleep, and I beheld a high mountain, and I was upon it. And behold the heavens were opened and an angel of God said to me, Levi enter And I entered from the first heaven, and I saw there a great sea hanging.

3E vi ainda um segundo céu, muito mais claro e resplandecente, pois nele havia também uma luz sem limites.

3And further I saw a second heaven far brighter and more brilliant, for there was a boundless light also therein.

4E perguntei ao anjo: Por que é assim? E o anjo me respondeu: Não te maravilhes, pois verás outro céu mais resplandecente e incomparável.

4And I said to the angel, Why Is this so? And the angel said to me, Marvel not at this, for thou shalt see another heaven more brilliant and incomparable.

5E, quando a ele subires, estarás perto do Senhor, serás Seu ministro, revelarás Seus mistérios aos homens e anunciarás Aquele que há de redimir Israel.

5And when thou hast ascended thither, Thou shalt stand near the Lord, And shalt be His minister, And shalt declare His mysteries to men, And shall proclaim concerning Him that shall redeem Israel.

6E por meio de ti e de Judá o Senhor aparecerá entre os homens, salvando todas as raças humanas.

6And by thee and Judah shall the Lord appear among men Saving every race of men.

7E da porção do Senhor será tua vida; Ele será teu campo e tua vinha, teus frutos, teu ouro e tua prata.

7And from the Lord's portion shall be thy life, And He shall be thy field and vineyard, And fruits, gold, and silver.

8Ouve, pois, acerca dos céus que te foram mostrados. O mais baixo te parece sombrio por contemplar todas as obras injustas dos homens.

8Hear, therefore, regarding the heavens which have been shown to thee. The lowest is for this cause gloomy unto thee, in that it beholds all the unrighteous deeds of men.

9E nele há fogo, neve e gelo preparados para o dia do juízo, no justo julgamento de Deus; pois nele estão todos os espíritos da retribuição para a vingança contra os homens.

9And it has fire, snow, and ice made ready for the day of judgement, in the righteous judgement of God; for in it are all the spirits of the retributions for vengeance on men.

10E no segundo estão as hostes dos exércitos designados para o dia do juízo, a fim de exercer vingança sobre os espíritos do engano e de Beliar. E acima deles estão os santos.

10And in the second are the hosts of the armies which are ordained for the day of judgement, to work vengeance on the spirits of deceit and of Beliar. And above them are the holy ones.

11E no mais alto de todos habita a Grande Glória, muito acima de toda santidade.

11And in the highest of all dwelleth the Great Glory, far above all holiness.

12No céu seguinte estão os arcanjos, que ministram e fazem propiciação diante do Senhor por todos os pecados de ignorância dos justos, oferecendo ao Senhor aroma suave, oferta racional e sem sangue.

12In the heaven next to it are the archangels, who minister and make propitiation to the Lord for all the sins of ignorance of the righteous; Offering to the Lord a sweet-smelling savour, a reasonable and a bloodless offering.

13E no céu abaixo deste estão os anjos que levam respostas aos anjos da presença do Senhor.

13And in the heaven below this are the angels who bear answers to the angels of the presence of the Lord.

14E no céu seguinte estão tronos e domínios, nos quais continuamente oferecem louvor a Deus.

14And in the heaven next to this are thrones and dominions, in which always they offer praise to God.

15Quando, pois, o Senhor olha para nós, todos estremecemos; sim, os céus, a terra e os abismos estremecem ante a presença de Sua majestade.

15When, therefore, the Lord looketh upon us, all of us are shaken; yea, the heavens, and the earth, and the abysses are shaken at the presence of His majesty.

16Mas os filhos dos homens, sem perceber essas coisas, pecam e provocam o Altíssimo.

16But the sons of men, having no perception of these things sin and provoke the Most High.

17Agora, pois, sabe que o Senhor executará juízo sobre os filhos dos homens. Porque, quando as rochas se fenderem, o sol se apagar, as águas secarem, o fogo se encolher, toda a criação se perturbar, os espíritos invisíveis se dissolverem e o Hades tomar despojos pelas visitações do Altíssimo, os homens permanecerão incrédulos e persistirão em sua iniquidade. Por isso serão julgados com castigo.

17Now, therefore, know that the Lord shall execute judgment upon the sons of men. Because when the rocks are being rent, And the sun quenched, And the waters dried up, And the fire cowering, And all creation troubled, And the invisible spirits melting away; And Hades taketh spoils through the visitations of the Most High, Men will be unbelieving and persist in their iniquity. On this account with punishment shall they be judged.

18Portanto, o Altíssimo ouviu tua oração, para te separar da iniquidade e para que te tornes Seu filho, servo e ministro de Sua presença.

18Therefore the Most High hath heard thy prayer, To separate thee from iniquity, and that thou shouldst become to Him a son, And a servant, and a minister of His presence.

19Acenderás a luz do conhecimento em Jacó e serás como o sol para toda a descendência de Israel.

19The light of knowledge shalt thou light up in Jacob, And as the sun shalt thou be to all the seed of Israel.

20E será dada uma bênção a ti e a toda a tua descendência, até que o Senhor visite todos os gentios em Suas ternas misericórdias para sempre.

20And there shall be given to thee a blessing, and to all thy seed, Until the Lord shall visit all the Gentiles in His tender mercies for ever.

21E, por isso, foram-te dados conselho e entendimento, para que instruas teus filhos acerca disso;

21And therefore there have been given to thee counsel and understanding, That thou mightst instruct thy sons concerning this;

22porque os que O bendizem serão benditos, e os que O amaldiçoam perecerão.

22Because they that bless Him shall be blessed, And they that curse Him shall perish.

23Então o anjo me abriu as portas do céu, e vi o templo santo e, sobre um trono de glória, o Altíssimo. E Ele me disse: Levi, dei-te as bênçãos do sacerdócio até que Eu venha e habite no meio de Israel.

23And thereupon the angel opened to me the gates of heaven, and I saw the holy temple, and upon a throne of glory the Most High. And He said to me: Levi, I have given thee the blessings of the priesthood until I come and sojourn in the midst of Israel.

24Então o anjo me fez descer à terra, deu-me um escudo e uma espada e disse-me: Executa vingança contra Siquém por causa de Diná, tua irmã, e Eu estarei contigo, porque o Senhor me enviou. E destruí naquele tempo os filhos de Hamor, conforme está escrito nas tábuas celestiais.

24Then the angel brought me down to the earth, and gave me a shield and a sword, and said to me: Execute vengeance on Shechem because of Dinah, thy sister, and I will be with thee because the Lord hath sent me. And I destroyed at that time the sons of Hamor, as it is written in the heavenly tables.

25E eu lhe disse: Rogo a Ti, ó Senhor, dize-me Teu nome, para que Te invoque no dia da tribulação. E ele disse: Sou o anjo que intercede pela nação de Israel para que não seja inteiramente ferida, pois todo espírito maligno a ataca.

25And I said to him: I pray thee, O Lord, tell me Thy name, that I may call upon Thee in a day of tribulation. And he said: I am the angel who intercedeth for the nation of Israel that they may not be smitten utterly, for every evil spirit attacketh it.

26E, depois dessas coisas, despertei e bendisse o Altíssimo e o anjo que intercede pela nação de Israel e por todos os justos.

26And after these things I awaked, and blessed the Most High, and the angel who intercedeth for the nation of Israel and for all the righteous.

27E, quando ia ao encontro de meu pai, achei um escudo de bronze; por isso também o nome do monte é Áspis, que fica perto de Gebal, ao sul de Ábila. E guardei estas palavras no meu coração. Depois disso, aconselhei meu pai e meu irmão Rúben a ordenarem aos filhos de Hamor que não fossem circuncidados; pois ardia de zelo pela abominação que haviam cometido contra minha irmã. E matei Siquém primeiro, e Simeão matou Hamor. Depois disso, meus irmãos vieram e feriram aquela cidade ao fio da espada. E meu pai ouviu essas coisas e se irou; e afligiu-se por terem eles recebido a circuncisão e depois haverem sido mortos; e em suas bênçãos nos olhou desfavoravelmente. Pois pecamos, porque fizemos isso contra sua vontade, e naquele dia ele adoeceu. Mas vi que a sentença de Deus era adversa a Siquém; pois procuraram fazer a Sara e a Rebeca o mesmo que haviam feito a Diná, nossa irmã, mas o Senhor os impediu. E perseguiram Abraão, nosso pai, quando era estrangeiro; e afligiram seus rebanhos quando estavam prenhes; e a Eblaen, nascido em sua casa, trataram de modo vergonhosíssimo. E assim faziam com todos os estrangeiros: tomavam-lhes as mulheres à força e os expulsavam. Mas a ira do Senhor veio sobre eles até o extremo.

27And when I was going to my father, I found a brazen shield; wherefore also the name of the mountain is Aspis, which is near Gebal, to the south of Abila And I kept these words in my heart. And after this I counselled my father, and Reuben my brother, to bid the sons of Hamor not to be circumcised; for I was zealous because of the abomination which they had wrought on my sister. And I slew Shechem first, and Simeon slew Hamor. And after this my brothers came and smote that city with the edge of the sword. And my father heard these things and was wroth, and he was grieved in that they had received the circumcision, and after that had been put to death, and in his blessings he looked amiss upon us. For we sinned because we had done this thing against his will, and he was sick on that day. But I saw that the sentence of God was for evil upon Shechem; for they sought to do to Sarah and Rebecca as they had done to Dinah our sister, but the Lord prevented them. And they persecuted Abraham our father when he was a stranger, and they vexed his flocks when they were big with young; and Eblaen, who was born in his house, they most shamefully handled. And thus they did to all strangers, taking away their wives by force, and they banished them. But the wrath of the Lord came upon them to the uttermost.

28E eu disse a meu pai Jacó: Por meio de ti o Senhor despojará os cananeus e dará a terra deles a ti e à tua descendência depois de ti. Pois, desde este dia, Siquém será chamada cidade de insensatos; porque, como um homem zomba de um tolo, assim zombamos deles. Pois também haviam cometido loucura em Israel, contaminando minha irmã. E partimos e chegamos a Betel.

28And I said to my father Jacob: By thee will the Lord despoil the Canaanites, and will give their land to thee and to thy seed after thee. For from this day forward shall Shechem be called a city of imbeciles; for as a man mocketh a fool, so did we mock them. Because also they had wrought folly in Israel by defiling my sister. And we departed and came to Bethel.

29E ali tive outra visão, como a primeira, depois de termos passado setenta dias naquele lugar. E vi sete homens vestidos de branco que me diziam: Levanta-te, veste a túnica do sacerdócio, a coroa da justiça, o peitoral do entendimento, a veste da verdade, a lâmina da fé e o turbante da cabeça e o éfode da profecia.

29And there again I saw a vision as the former, after we had spent there seventy days. And I saw seven men in white raiment saying unto me: Arise, put on the robe of the priesthood, and the crown of righteousness, and the breastplate of understanding, and the garment of truth, and the plate of faith, and the turban of the head, and the ephod of prophecy.

30E cada um trazia (essas coisas) e (as) colocava sobre mim, dizendo-me: Doravante sê sacerdote do Senhor, tu e tua descendência para sempre. E o primeiro me ungiu com óleo santo e me deu o cajado do juízo.

30And they severally carried (these things) and put (them,) on me, and said unto me: From henceforth become a priest of the Lord, thou and thy seed for ever. And the first anointed me with holy oil, and gave to me the staff of judgment.

31O segundo me lavou com água pura, alimentou-me com pão e vinho (até mesmo) as coisas santíssimas e me vestiu com uma túnica santa e gloriosa. O terceiro me cobriu com uma veste de linho semelhante a um éfode. O quarto me cingiu com um cinto semelhante à púrpura.

31The second washed me with pure water, and fed me with bread and wine (even) the most holy things, and clad me with a holy and glorious robe. The third clothed me with a linen vestment like an ephod. The fourth put round me a girdle like unto purple.

32O quinto me deu um ramo de oliveira frondosa. O sexto pôs uma coroa em minha cabeça. O sétimo pôs em minha cabeça um diadema sacerdotal e encheu minhas mãos de incenso, para que eu servisse como sacerdote ao Senhor Deus. E disseram-me: Levi, tua descendência será dividida em três ofícios, como sinal da glória do Senhor que há de vir. E a primeira parte será grande; sim, nenhuma será maior que ela. A segunda estará no sacerdócio.

32The fifth gave me a branch of rich olive. The sixth placed a crown on my head. The seventh placed on my head a diadem of priesthood, and filled my hands with incense, that I might serve as priest to the Lord God. And they said to me: Levi, thy seed shall be divided into three offices, for a sign of the glory of the Lord who is to come. And the first portion shall be great; yea, greater than it shall none be. The second shall be in the priesthood.

33E a terceira será chamada por um novo nome, porque um rei se levantará em Judá e estabelecerá um novo sacerdócio, segundo o costume dos gentios, para todos os gentios. E Sua presença é amada, como profeta do Altíssimo, da descendência de Abraão, nosso pai.

33And the third shall be called by a new name, because a king shall arise in Judah, and shall establish a new priesthood, after the fashion of the Gentiles to all the Gentiles. And His presence is beloved, as a prophet of the Most High, of the seed of Abraham our father.

34Portanto, tudo o que é desejável em Israel será para ti e para tua descendência; e comereis tudo o que é formoso à vista, e tua descendência repartirá a mesa do Senhor.

34Therefore, every desirable thing in Israel shall be for thee and for thy seed, And ye shall eat everything fair to look upon, And the table of the Lord shall thy seed apportion.

35E alguns deles serão sumos sacerdotes, juízes e escribas; pois por sua boca será guardado o lugar santo.

35And some of them shall be high priests, and judges, and scribes; For by their mouth shall the holy place be guarded.

36E, quando despertei, compreendi que este (sonho) era como o primeiro sonho. Também o guardei no coração e não o contei a homem algum sobre a terra.

36And when I awoke, I understood that this (dream) was like the first dream. And I hid this also in my heart, and told it not to any man upon the earth.

37E, dois dias depois, eu e Judá subimos com nosso pai Jacó a Isaque, pai de nosso pai. E o pai de meu pai me abençoou conforme todas as palavras das visões que eu vira. E ele não quis vir conosco a Betel.

37And after two days I and Judah went up with our father Jacob to Isaac our father's father. And my father's father blessed me according to all the words of the visions which I had seen. And he would not come with us to Bethel.

38Quando chegamos a Betel, meu pai teve uma visão a meu respeito: que eu seria sacerdote deles diante de Deus. E levantou-se de madrugada, e entregou por meu intermédio os dízimos de tudo ao Senhor. E assim viemos a Hebrom para ali morar.

38And when we came to Bethel, my father saw a vision concerning me, that I should be their priest unto God. And he rose up early in the morning, and paid tithes of all to the Lord through me. And so we came to Hebron to dwell there.

39E Isaque me chamava continuamente para me fazer lembrar da lei do Senhor, assim como o anjo do Senhor me mostrara. E ensinou-me a lei do sacerdócio, dos sacrifícios, dos holocaustos, das primícias, das ofertas voluntárias e das ofertas pacíficas. E a cada dia me instruía e se ocupava de mim perante o Senhor, dizendo-me: Guarda-te do espírito da fornicação, pois esta persistirá e, por meio de tua descendência, contaminará o lugar santo. Toma, pois, para ti uma mulher sem mácula nem impureza, enquanto ainda és jovem, e que não seja da raça das nações estrangeiras. E, antes de entrares no lugar santo, banha-te; e, quando ofereceres os sacrifícios, lava-te; e, quando terminares o sacrifício, lava-te outra vez. De doze árvores que tenham folhas oferece ao Senhor, como Abraão também me ensinou. E de todo animal e ave puros oferece um sacrifício ao Senhor. E de todas as tuas primícias e do vinho oferece a primeira parte como sacrifício ao Senhor Deus; e todo sacrifício salgarás com sal.

39And Isaac called me continually to put me in remembrance of the law of the Lord, even as the angel of the Lord showed unto me. And he taught me the law of the priesthood, of sacrifices, whole burnt-offerings, first-fruits, freewill-offerings, peace-offerings. And each day he was instructing me, and was busied on my behalf before the Lord, and said to me: Beware of the spirit of fornication; for this shall continue and shall by thy seed pollute the holy place. Take, therefore, to thyself a wife without blemish or pollution, w bile yet thou art young, and not of the race of strange nations. And before entering into the holy place, bathe; and when thou offerest the sacrifices wash; and again, when thou finishest the sacrifice, wash Of twelve trees having leaves offer to the Lord, as Abraham taught me also. And of every clean beast and bird offer a sacrifice to the Lord. And of all thy first -fruits and of wine offer the first, as a sacrifice to the Lord God; and every sacrifice thou shalt salt with salt.

40Agora, pois, observai tudo quanto vos ordeno, filhos; porque vos declarei tudo quanto ouvi de meus pais. E eis que estou livre de vossa impiedade e transgressão, que cometereis no fim dos tempos contra o Salvador do mundo, Cristo, agindo impiamente, enganando Israel e suscitando contra ele grandes males da parte do Senhor.

40Now, therefore, observe whatsoever I command you, children: for whatsoever things I have heard from my fathers I have declared unto you. And behold I am clear from your ungodliness and transgression, which ye shall commit in the end of the ages against the Saviour of the world, Christ, acting godlessly, deceiving Israel, and stirring up against it great evils from the Lord.

41E agireis sem lei juntamente com Israel, de modo que Ele não suportará Jerusalém por causa de vossa maldade; mas o véu do templo se rasgará para não cobrir vossa vergonha. E sereis espalhados como cativos entre os gentios e sereis objeto de opróbrio e maldição ali. Pois a casa que o Senhor escolher será chamada Jerusalém, como está escrito no livro de Enoque, o justo.

41And ye shall deal lawlessly together with Israel, so He shall not bear with Jerusalem because of your wickedness; but the veil of the temple shall be rent, so as not to cover your shame. And ye shall be scattered as captives among the Gentiles, and shall be for a reproach and for a curse there. For the house which the Lord shall choose shall be called Jerusalem, as is contained in the book of Enoch the righteous.

42Portanto, quando tomei mulher, tinha vinte e oito anos, e seu nome era Melca. Ela concebeu e deu à luz um filho, e dei-lhe o nome de Gérsam, pois éramos estrangeiros em nossa terra. E vi a seu respeito que ele não estaria na primeira posição. E Coate nasceu no trigésimo quinto ano de minha vida, ao nascer do sol. E vi em visão que ele estava em pé nas alturas, no meio de toda a congregação; por isso lhe dei o nome de Coate, que significa princípio de majestade e instrução. Ela me deu um terceiro filho no quadragésimo ano de minha vida; e, como sua mãe o deu à luz com dificuldade, chamei-o Merari, isto é, 'minha amargura', porque ele também esteve prestes a morrer. E Joquebede nasceu no Egito, em meu sexagésimo quarto ano, pois então eu era conhecido entre meus irmãos.

42Therefore when I took a wife I was twenty-eight years old, and her name was Melcha. And she conceived and bare a son, and I called his name Gersam, for we were sojourners in our land And I saw concerning him, that he would not be in the first rank, And Kohath was born in the thirty-fifth year of my life, towards sunrise. And I saw in a vision that he was standing on high in the midst of all the congregation, Therefore I called his name Kohath which is, beginning of majesty and instruction. And she bare me a third son, in the fortieth year of my life; and since his mother bare him with difficulty, I called him Merari, that is, 'my bitterness,' because he also was like to die. And Jochebed was born in Egypt, in my sixty-fourth year, for I was renowned then in the midst of my brethren.

43E Gérsam tomou mulher, e ela lhe deu Lomni e Semei. E os filhos de Coate foram Ambrão, Issacar, Hebrom e Ozeel. E os filhos de Merari foram Mooli e Mouses. E no nonagésimo quarto ano Ambrão tomou Joquebede, minha filha, por mulher, pois nasceram no mesmo dia, ele e minha filha.

43And Gersam took a wife, and she bare to him Lomni and Semei. And the sons of Kohath, Ambram, Issachar, Hebron, and Ozeel. And the sons of Merari, Mooli, and Mouses. And in the ninety-fourth year Ambram took Jochebed my daughter to him to wife, for they were born in one day, he and my daughter.

44Eu tinha oito anos quando entrei na terra de Canaã; dezoito quando matei Siquém; aos dezenove tornei-me sacerdote; aos vinte e oito tomei mulher; e aos quarenta e oito entrei no Egito. E eis que vós, meus filhos, sois a terceira geração.

44Eight years old was I when I went into the land of Canaan, and eighteen years when I slew Shechem, and at nineteen years I became priest, and at twenty-eight years I took a wife, and at forty-eight I went into Egypt. And behold, my children, ye are a third generation.

45No meu centésimo décimo oitavo ano morreu José.

45In my hundred and eighteenth year Joseph died.

46E agora, meus filhos, ordeno-vos: Temei ao Senhor vosso Deus de todo o coração e andai em simplicidade segundo toda a Sua lei.

46And now, my children, I command you: Fear the Lord your God with your whole heart, And walk in simplicity according to all His law.

47E ensinai também as letras a vossos filhos, para que tenham entendimento durante toda a vida, lendo sem cessar a lei de Deus.

47And do ye also teach your children letters, That they may have understanding all their life, Reading unceasingly the law of God.

48Pois todo aquele que conhece a lei do Senhor será honrado e não será estrangeiro aonde quer que vá.

48For every one that knoweth the law of the Lord shall be honoured, And shall not be a stranger whithersoever he goeth.

49Sim, ganhará muitos amigos, mais do que seus pais; e muitos desejarão servi-lo e ouvir a lei de sua boca.

49Yea, many friends shall he gain more than his parents, And many men shall desire to serve him, And to hear the law from his mouth.

50Praticai, pois, a justiça sobre a terra, meus filhos, para que (a) tenhais como tesouro no céu.

50Work righteousness, therefore, my children, upon the earth, That ye may have (it) as a treasure in heaven.

51E semeai coisas boas em vossas almas, para que as encontreis em vossa vida. Mas, se semeardes coisas más, colhereis toda tribulação e aflição.

51And sow good things in your souls, That ye may find them in your life. But if ye sow evil things, Ye shall reap every trouble and affliction.

52Adquiri diligentemente sabedoria no temor de Deus; pois, ainda que haja cativeiro, cidades e terras sejam destruídas e pereçam o ouro, a prata e todas as posses, ninguém pode tirar a sabedoria do sábio, salvo a cegueira da impiedade e a insensibilidade (que vem) do pecado.

52Get wisdom in the fear of God with diligence; For though there be a leading into captivity, And cities and lands be destroyed, And gold and silver and every possession perish, The wisdom of the wise nought can take away, Save the blindness of ungodliness, and the callousness (that comes) of sin.

53Pois, se alguém se guardar dessas coisas más, a sabedoria lhe será glória até entre os inimigos, pátria em terra estrangeira e amiga no meio dos adversários.

53For if one keep oneself from these evil things, Then even among his enemies shall wisdom be a glory to him, And in a strange country a fatherland, And in the midst of foes shall prove a friend.

54Quem ensina coisas nobres e as pratica será entronizado com reis, como também o foi José, meu irmão.

54Whosoever teaches noble things and does them, Shall be enthroned with kings, As was also Joseph my brother.

55Portanto, meus filhos, soube que no fim dos tempos transgredireis contra o Senhor, estendendo as mãos para praticar o mal contra Ele; e sereis motivo de escárnio para todos os gentios.

55Therefore, my children, I have learnt that at the end of the ages ye will transgress against the Lord, stretching out hands to wickedness against Him; and to all the Gentiles shall ye become a scorn.

56Pois nosso pai Israel está livre das transgressões dos principais sacerdotes que lançarão as mãos sobre o Salvador do mundo.

56For our father Israel is pure from the transgressions of the chief priests who shall lay their hands upon the Saviour of the world.

57Pois, assim como o céu é mais puro aos olhos do Senhor que a terra, assim também sede vós, as luzes de Israel, (mais puros) que todos os gentios.

57For as the heaven is purer in the Lord's sight than the earth, so also be ye, the lights of Israel, (purer) than all the Gentiles.

58Mas, se vos obscurecerdes pelas transgressões, que farão então todos os gentios que vivem na cegueira? Sim, trareis maldição sobre nossa raça, pois desejais destruir a luz da lei, dada para iluminar todos os homens, ensinando mandamentos contrários às ordenanças de Deus.

58But if ye be darkened through transgressions, what, therefore, will all the Gentiles do living in blindness? Yea, ye shall bring a curse upon our race, because the light of the law which was given for to lighten every man this ye desire to destroy by teaching commandments contrary to the ordinances of God.

59Roubareis as ofertas do Senhor e furtareis as melhores partes de Sua porção, comendo (as partes) com desprezo com prostitutas. E, por cobiça, ensinareis os mandamentos do Senhor; contaminareis mulheres casadas e desonrareis as virgens de Jerusalém; unir-vos-eis a prostitutas e adúlteras e tomareis por mulheres as filhas dos gentios, purificando-as com uma purificação ilícita; e vossa união será como Sodoma e Gomorra.

59The offerings of the Lord ye shall rob, and from His portion shall ye steal choice portions, eating (them) contemptuously with harlots. And out of covetousness ye shall teach the commandments of the Lord, wedded women shall ye pollute, and the virgins of Jerusalem shall ye defile: and with harlots and adulteresses shall ye be joined, and the daughters of the Gentiles shall ye take to wife, purifying them with an unlawful purification; and your union shall be like unto Sodom and Gomorrah.

60E vos ensoberbecereis por causa de vosso sacerdócio, exaltando-vos contra os homens, e não só isso, mas também contra os mandamentos de Deus. Pois desprezareis as coisas santas com zombarias e risos.

60And ye shall be puffed up because of your priesthood, lifting yourselves up against men, and not only so, but also against the commands of God. For ye shall contemn the holy things with jests and laughter.

61Portanto, o templo que o Senhor escolher será devastado por causa de vossa impureza, e sereis cativos entre todas as nações. Sereis para elas uma abominação, e recebereis opróbrio e vergonha eterna pelo justo juízo de Deus. E todos os que vos odeiam se alegrarão com vossa destruição. E, se não recebêsseis misericórdia por meio de Abraão, Isaque e Jacó, nossos pais, nenhum de nossa descendência permaneceria sobre a terra.

61Therefore the temple, which the Lord shall choose, shall be laid waste through your uncleanness, and ye shall be captives throughout all nations. And ye shall be an abomination unto them, and ye shall receive reproach and everlasting shame from the righteous judgement of God. And all who hate you shall rejoice at your destruction. And if you were not to receive mercy through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, our fathers, not one of our seed should be left upon the earth.

62E agora soube que durante setenta semanas vos desviareis, profanareis o sacerdócio e contaminareis os sacrifícios. Anulareis a lei e desprezareis as palavras dos profetas por maligna perversidade. Perseguireis os justos e odiareis os piedosos; as palavras dos fiéis abominareis.

62And now I have learnt that for seventy weeks ye shall go astray, and profane the priesthood, and pollute the sacrifices. And ye shall make void the law, and set at nought the words of the prophets by evil perverseness. And ye shall persecute righteous men, and hate the godly the words of the faithful shall ye abhor.

63E a um homem que renova a lei pelo poder do Altíssimo chamareis enganador; e por fim vos lançareis (sobre ele) para matá-lo, sem reconhecer sua dignidade, trazendo sangue inocente por maldade sobre vossas cabeças. E vossos lugares santos serão devastados até o chão por causa dele.

63And a man who reneweth the law in the power of the Most High, ye shall call a deceiver; and at last ye shall rush (upon him) to slay him, not knowing his dignity, taking innocent blood through wickedness upon your heads. And your holy places shall be laid waste even to the ground because of him.

64E não tereis lugar que seja puro; mas sereis entre os gentios maldição e dispersão, até que Ele vos visite novamente e, por compaixão, vos receba mediante a fé e a água.

64And ye shall have no place that is clean; but ye shall be among the Gentiles a curse and a dispersion until He shall again visit you and in pity shall receive you through faith and water.

65E, visto que ouvistes acerca das setenta semanas, ouvi também acerca do sacerdócio.

65And whereas ye have heard concerning the seventy weeks, hear also concerning the priesthood.

66Pois em cada jubileu haverá um sacerdócio. E no primeiro jubileu, o primeiro a ser ungido para o sacerdócio será grande e falará a Deus como a um pai. Seu sacerdócio será perfeito diante do Senhor, e no dia de sua alegria ele se levantará para a salvação do mundo.

66For in each jubilee there shall be a priesthood. And in the first jubilee, the first who is anointed to the priesthood shall be great, and shall speak to God as to a father. And his priesthood shall be perfect with the Lord, and in the day of his gladness shall he arise for the salvation of the world.

67No segundo jubileu, aquele que for ungido será concebido na tristeza dos amados; e seu sacerdócio será honrado e glorificado por todos. E o terceiro sacerdote será tomado pela tristeza. E o quarto padecerá, porque a injustiça se ajuntará contra ele em grande medida, e todo Israel odiará cada um o seu próximo. O quinto será tomado pelas trevas. Do mesmo modo também o sexto e o sétimo. E no sétimo haverá tal impureza que não a posso expressar diante dos homens, pois a conhecerão os que fazem essas coisas. Portanto eles serão levados cativos e se tornarão presa, e sua terra e suas posses serão destruídas.

67In the second jubilee, he that is anointed shall be conceived in the sorrow of beloved ones; and his priesthood shall be honoured and shall be glorified by all. And the third priest shall be taken hold of by sorrow. And the fourth shall be in pain, because unrighteousness shall gather itself against him exceedingly, and all Israel shall hate each one his neighbour. The fifth shall be taken hold of by darkness Likewise also the sixth and the seventh. And in the seventh shall be such pollution as I cannot express before men, for they shall know it who do these things. Therefore shall they be taken captive and become a prey, and their land and their substance shall be destroyed.

68E na quinta semana voltarão à sua terra desolada e restaurarão a casa do Senhor. E na sétima semana se tornarão sacerdotes (que são) idólatras, adúlteros, amantes do dinheiro, soberbos, transgressores, lascivos, abusadores de crianças e de animais.

68And in the fifth week they shall return to their desolate country, and shall renew the house of the Lord. And in the seventh week shall become priests, (who are) idolaters, adulterers, lovers of money, proud, lawless, lascivious, abusers of children and beasts.

69E, depois que vier sobre eles o castigo do Senhor, o sacerdócio cessará.

69And after their punishment shall have come from the Lord, the priesthood shall fail.

70Então o Senhor levantará um novo sacerdote. A ele serão reveladas todas as palavras do Senhor, e ele executará um justo juízo sobre a terra durante muitos dias.

70Then shall the Lord raise up a new priest. And to him all the words of the Lord shall be revealed; And he shall execute a righteous judgement upon the earth for a multitude of days.

71E sua estrela se levantará no céu como a de um rei, iluminando a luz do conhecimento como o sol ilumina o dia; e ele será engrandecido no mundo.

71And his star shall arise in heaven as of a king. Lighting up the light of knowledge as the sun the day, And he shall be magnified in the world.

72Resplandecerá como o sol sobre a terra, removerá todas as trevas de debaixo do céu e haverá paz em toda a terra.

72He shall shine forth as the sun on the earth, And shall remove all darkness from under heaven, And there shall be peace in all the earth.

73Os céus exultarão em seus dias, a terra se alegrará e as nuvens se regozijarão; e o conhecimento do Senhor será derramado sobre a terra como as águas dos mares; e os anjos da glória da presença do Senhor se alegrarão nele.

73The heavens shall exult in his days, And the earth shall be glad, And the clouds shall rejoice, And the knowledge of the Lord shall be poured forth upon the earth, as the water of the seas; And the angels of the glory of the presence of the Lord shall be glad in him.

74Os céus se abrirão, e do templo da glória virá sobre ele a santificação, com a voz do Pai como de Abraão a Isaque.

74The heavens shall be opened, And From the temple of glory shall come upon him sanctification, With the Father's voice as from Abraham to Isaac.

75E a glória do Altíssimo será pronunciada sobre ele, e o espírito de entendimento e santificação repousará sobre ele na água.

75And the glory of the Most High shall be uttered over him, And the spirit of understanding and sanctification shall rest upon him in the water.

76Pois ele dará a majestade do Senhor a Seus filhos em verdade para sempre; e ninguém lhe sucederá por todas as gerações, eternamente.

76For he shall give the majesty of the Lord to His sons in truth for evermore; And there shall none succeed him for all generations for ever.

77E em seu sacerdócio os gentios crescerão em conhecimento sobre a terra e serão iluminados pela graça do Senhor; em seu sacerdócio o pecado chegará ao fim, os transgressores cessarão de praticar o mal e os justos descansarão nele.

77And in his priesthood the Gentiles shall be multiplied in knowledge upon the earth, And enlightened through the grace of the Lord: In his priesthood shall sin come to an end, And the lawless shall cease to do evil. And the just shall rest in him.

78E ele abrirá as portas do paraíso e removerá a espada ameaçadora contra Adão.

78And he shall open the gates of paradise, And shall remove the threatening sword against Adam.

79E dará aos santos de comer da árvore da vida, e o espírito de santidade estará sobre eles.

79And he shall give to the saints to eat from the tree of life, And the spirit of holiness shall be on them.

80E Beliar será preso por ele, e ele dará a Seus filhos poder para pisar os espíritos malignos.

80And Beliar shall be bound by him, And he shall give power to His children to tread upon the evil spirits.

81E o Senhor se alegrará em Seus filhos e se agradará de Seus amados para sempre.

81And the Lord shall rejoice in His children, And be well pleased in His beloved ones for ever.

82Então Abraão, Isaque e Jacó exultarão, e eu me alegrarei, e todos os santos se vestirão de júbilo.

82Then shall Abraham and Isaac and Jacob exult, And I will be glad, And all the saints shall clothe themselves with joy.

83E agora, meus filhos, ouvistes tudo; escolhei, pois, para vós a luz ou as trevas, a lei do Senhor ou as obras de Beliar. E seus filhos responderam-lhe, dizendo: Perante o Senhor andaremos segundo Sua lei.

83And now, my children, ye have heard all; choose, therefore, for yourselves either the light or the darkness, either the law of the Lord or the works of Beliar. And his sons answered him, saying, Before the Lord we will walk according to His law.

84E seu pai lhes disse: O Senhor é testemunha, Seus anjos são testemunhas, vós sois testemunhas e eu sou testemunha quanto à palavra de vossa boca. E seus filhos lhe disseram: Somos testemunhas. E assim Levi cessou de dar ordens a seus filhos; estendeu os pés sobre a cama e foi reunido a seus pais, depois de haver vivido cento e trinta e sete anos. E o puseram em um caixão e depois o sepultaram em Hebrom, com Abraão, Isaque e Jacó.

84And their father said unto them, The Lord is witness, and His angels are witnesses, and ye are witnesses, and I am witness, concerning the word of your mouth. And his sons said unto him: We are witnesses. And thus Levi ceased commanding his sons; and he stretched out his feet on the bed, and was gathered to his fathers, after he had lived a hundred and thirty-seven years. And they laid him in a coffin, and afterwards they buried him in Hebron, with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
