Eclesiástico 15

1Quem teme o Senhor fará o bem, e quem tem o conhecimento da lei a alcançará.

1He that feareth the Lord will do good, and he that hath the knowledge of the law shall obtain her.

2E como uma mãe ela irá ao seu encontro, e o receberá como uma esposa casada ainda virgem.

2And as a mother shall she meet him, and receive him as a wife married of a virgin.

3Com o pão do entendimento o alimentará, e lhe dará a beber a água da sabedoria.

3With the bread of understanding shall she feed him, and give him the water of wisdom to drink.

4Ele se apoiará nela e não será abalado; confiará nela e não será confundido.

4He shall be stayed upon her, and shall not be moved; and shall rely upon her, and shall not be confounded.

5Ela o exaltará acima dos seus próximos, e no meio da congregação lhe abrirá a boca.

5She shall exalt him above his neighbours, and in the midst of the congregation shall she open his mouth.

6Ele achará gozo e uma coroa de alegria, e ela o fará herdar um nome eterno.

6He shall find joy and a crown of gladness, and she shall cause him to inherit an everlasting name.

7Mas os insensatos não a alcançarão, e os pecadores não a verão.

7But foolish men shall not attain unto her, and sinners shall not see her.

8Pois ela está longe da soberba, e os mentirosos não podem lembrar-se dela.

8For she is far from pride, and men that are liars cannot remember her.

9O louvor não fica bem na boca do pecador, pois não lhe foi enviado pelo Senhor.

9Praise is not seemly in the mouth of a sinner, for it was not sent him of the Lord.

10Pois o louvor será proferido com sabedoria, e o Senhor o fará prosperar.

10For praise shall be uttered in wisdom, and the Lord will prosper it.

11Não digas: Foi pelo Senhor que me afastei; pois não deves fazer as coisas que ele odeia.

11Say not thou, It is through the Lord that I fell away: for thou oughtest not to do the things that he hateth.

12Não digas: Ele me fez errar; pois ele não tem necessidade do homem pecador.

12Say not thou, He hath caused me to err: for he hath no need of the sinful man.

13O Senhor odeia toda abominação, e os que temem a Deus não a amam.

13The Lord hateth all abomination; and they that fear God love it not.

14Ele mesmo fez o homem desde o princípio e o deixou na mão do seu próprio conselho;

14He himself made man from the beginning, and left him in the hand of his counsel;

15se quiseres, guardarás os mandamentos e praticarás uma fidelidade agradável.

15If thou wilt, to keep the commandments, and to perform acceptable faithfulness.

16Pôs diante de ti o fogo e a água: estende a mão ao que quiseres.

16He hath set fire and water before thee: stretch forth thy hand unto whether thou wilt.

17Diante do homem estão a vida e a morte, e o que lhe agradar lhe será dado.

17Before man is life and death; and whether him liketh shall be given him.

18Pois a sabedoria do Senhor é grande, e ele é poderoso em força e vê todas as coisas;

18For the wisdom of the Lord is great, and he is mighty in power, and beholdeth all things:

19e os seus olhos estão sobre os que o temem, e ele conhece toda obra do homem.

19And his eyes are upon them that fear him, and he knoweth every work of man.

20Não mandou a ninguém proceder impiamente, nem deu a ninguém licença para pecar.

20He hath commanded no man to do wickedly, neither hath he given any man licence to sin.
