1Meu filho, não prives o pobre do seu sustento, e não faças esperar muito os olhos do necessitado.

1My son, defraud not the poor of his living, and make not the needy eyes to wait long.

2Não entristeças a alma faminta, nem irrites o homem na sua angústia.

2Make not an hungry soul sorrowful; neither provoke a man in his distress.

3Não acrescentes mais aflição ao coração atribulado, e não demores em dar ao necessitado.

3Add not more trouble to an heart that is vexed; and defer not to give to him that is in need.

4Não rejeites a súplica do aflito, nem desvies o rosto do pobre.

4Reject not the supplication of the afflicted; neither turn away thy face from a poor man.

5Não desvies os olhos do necessitado, e não lhe dês ocasião de te amaldiçoar;

5Turn not away thine eye from the needy, and give him none occasion to curse thee:

6pois, se ele te amaldiçoar na amargura da sua alma, a sua oração será ouvida por aquele que o fez.

6For if he curse thee in the bitterness of his soul, his prayer shall be heard of him that made him.

7Faze-te amar pela congregação, e inclina a cabeça diante do grande.

7Get thyself the love of the congregation, and bow thy head to a great man.

8Não te pese inclinar o teu ouvido ao pobre, e responde-lhe com mansidão e com palavras amigas.

8Let it not grieve thee to bow down thine ear to the poor, and give him a friendly answer with meekness.

9Livra o que sofre injustiça da mão do opressor, e não sejas fraco quando te assentares para julgar.

9Deliver him that suffereth wrong from the hand of the oppressor; and be not fainthearted when thou sittest in judgment.

10Sê como um pai para os órfãos, e como um marido para a mãe deles; assim serás como filho do Altíssimo, e ele te amará mais do que tua mãe.

10Be as a father unto the fatherless, and instead of an husband unto their mother: so shalt thou be as the son of the most High, and he shall love thee more than thy mother doth.

11A sabedoria exalta os seus filhos e acolhe os que a buscam.

11Wisdom exalteth her children, and layeth hold of them that seek her.

12Quem a ama, ama a vida, e os que madrugam para buscá-la serão cheios de alegria.

12He that loveth her loveth life; and they that seek to her early shall be filled with joy.

13Quem a retém firmemente herdará a glória, e onde quer que ela entre, o Senhor abençoará.

13He that holdeth her fast shall inherit glory; and wheresoever she entereth, the Lord will bless.

14Os que a servem ministrarão ao Santo, e aos que a amam o Senhor ama.

14They that serve her shall minister to the Holy One: and them that love her the Lord doth love.

15Quem lhe dá ouvidos julgará as nações, e quem a ela atende habitará em segurança.

15Whoso giveth ear unto her shall judge the nations: and he that attendeth unto her shall dwell securely.

16Se alguém se confiar a ela, a herdará, e a sua descendência a possuirá.

16If a man commit himself unto her, he shall inherit her; and his generation shall hold her in possession.

17Pois a princípio ela andará com ele por caminhos tortuosos, e trará sobre ele medo e temor, e o atormentará com a sua disciplina, até que possa confiar na sua alma e o prove pelas suas leis.

17For at the first she will walk with him by crooked ways, and bring fear and dread upon him, and torment him with her discipline, until she may trust his soul, and try him by her laws.

18Então voltará a ele pelo caminho reto, e o consolará, e lhe mostrará os seus segredos.

18Then will she return the straight way unto him, and comfort him, and shew him her secrets.

19Mas, se ele se desviar, ela o abandonará e o entregará à sua própria ruína.

19But if he go wrong, she will forsake him, and give him over to his own ruin.

20Observa a ocasião e guarda-te do mal; e não te envergonhes quando se trata da tua alma.

20Observe the opportunity, and beware of evil; and be not ashamed when it concerneth thy soul.

21Pois há uma vergonha que traz pecado, e há uma vergonha que é glória e graça.

21For there is a shame that bringeth sin; and there is a shame which is glory and grace.

22Não faças acepção de pessoas contra a tua alma, e não te deixes cair por respeito a ninguém.

22Accept no person against thy soul, and let not the reverence of any man cause thee to fall.

23E não deixes de falar quando há ocasião de fazer o bem, e não escondas a tua sabedoria na sua formosura.

23And refrain not to speak, when there is occasion to do good, and hide not thy wisdom in her beauty.

24Pois pela palavra se conhece a sabedoria, e a instrução pela palavra da língua.

24For by speech wisdom shall be known: and learning by the word of the tongue.

25De modo algum fales contra a verdade, mas envergonha-te do erro da tua ignorância.

25In no wise speak against the truth; but be abashed of the error of thine ignorance.

26Não te envergonhes de confessar os teus pecados, e não forces o curso do rio.

26Be not ashamed to confess thy sins; and force not the course of the river.

27Não te faças servo de um homem insensato, nem faças acepção da pessoa do poderoso.

27Make not thyself an underling to a foolish man; neither accept the person of the mighty.

28Luta pela verdade até a morte, e o Senhor pelejará por ti.

28Strive for the truth unto death, and the Lord shall fight for thee.

29Não sejas apressado na língua, e frouxo e negligente nas tuas obras.

29Be not hasty in thy tongue, and in thy deeds slack and remiss.

30Não sejas como um leão na tua casa, nem furioso entre os teus servos.

30Be not as a lion in thy house, nor frantick among thy servants.

31Não esteja a tua mão estendida para receber e fechada quando deves devolver.

31Let not thine hand be stretched out to receive, and shut when thou shouldest repay.
