Eclesiástico 45

1E fez sair dele um homem misericordioso, que achou graça aos olhos de toda carne, a saber, Moisés, amado de Deus e dos homens, cuja memória é bendita.

1And he brought out of him a merciful man, which found favour in the sight of all flesh, even Moses, beloved of God and men, whose memorial is blessed.

2Fê-lo semelhante aos santos gloriosos, e o engrandeceu, de modo que os seus inimigos o temiam.

2He made him like to the glorious saints, and magnified him, so that his enemies stood in fear of him.

3Pelas suas palavras fez cessar os prodígios, e o tornou glorioso diante dos reis, e deu-lhe mandamento para o seu povo, e mostrou-lhe parte da sua glória.

3By his words he caused the wonders to cease, and he made him glorious in the sight of kings, and gave him a commandment for his people, and shewed him part of his glory.

4Santificou-o na sua fidelidade e mansidão, e o escolheu dentre todos os homens.

4He sanctified him in his faithfulness and meekness, and chose him out of all men.

5Fê-lo ouvir a sua voz, e o introduziu na nuvem escura, e deu-lhe os mandamentos face a face, a saber, a lei da vida e do conhecimento, para que ensinasse a Jacó as suas alianças, e a Israel os seus juízos.

5He made him to hear his voice, and brought him into the dark cloud, and gave him commandments before his face, even the law of life and knowledge, that he might teach Jacob his covenants, and Israel his judgments.

6Exaltou Arão, homem santo semelhante a ele, seu irmão, da tribo de Levi.

6He exalted Aaron, an holy man like unto him, even his brother, of the tribe of Levi.

7Fez com ele uma aliança eterna, e deu-lhe o sacerdócio entre o povo; adornou-o com belos ornamentos, e vestiu-o com uma veste de glória.

7An everlasting covenant he made with him and gave him the priesthood among the people; he beautified him with comely ornaments, and clothed him with a robe of glory.

8Pôs sobre ele glória perfeita, e fortaleceu-o com vestes ricas: com calções, com uma túnica comprida e com o éfode.

8He put upon him perfect glory; and strengthened him with rich garments, with breeches, with a long robe, and the ephod.

9E rodeou-o de romãs e de muitas campainhas de ouro em redor, para que, ao andar, houvesse som, e se fizesse um ruído que pudesse ser ouvido no templo, por memorial para os filhos do seu povo;

9And he compassed him with pomegranates, and with many golden bells round about, that as he went there might be a sound, and a noise made that might be heard in the temple, for a memorial to the children of his people;

10com uma veste santa, com ouro, e seda azul, e púrpura, obra de bordador; com o peitoral do juízo, e com o Urim e o Tumim;

10With an holy garment, with gold, and blue silk, and purple, the work of the embroiderer, with a breastplate of judgment, and with Urim and Thummim;

11com escarlate torcido, obra de artífice hábil; com pedras preciosas gravadas como sinetes e engastadas em ouro, obra de joalheiro; com uma escritura gravada por memorial, segundo o número das tribos de Israel.

11With twisted scarlet, the work of the cunning workman, with precious stones graven like seals, and set in gold, the work of the jeweller, with a writing engraved for a memorial, after the number of the tribes of Israel.

12Pôs uma coroa de ouro sobre a mitra, na qual estava gravado Santidade, ornamento de honra, obra preciosa, delícia dos olhos, bela e formosa.

12He set a crown of gold upon the mitre, wherein was engraved Holiness, an ornament of honour, a costly work, the desires of the eyes, goodly and beautiful.

13Antes dele não houve coisas tais, nem jamais estrangeiro algum as vestiu, mas somente os seus filhos e os filhos dos seus filhos perpetuamente.

13Before him there were none such, neither did ever any stranger put them on, but only his children and his children’s children perpetually.

14Os seus sacrifícios serão inteiramente consumidos cada dia, duas vezes, continuamente.

14Their sacrifices shall be wholly consumed every day twice continually.

15Moisés o consagrou, e o ungiu com o óleo santo; isto lhe foi designado por aliança eterna, e à sua descendência, enquanto durassem os céus, para que lhe ministrassem, e exercessem o ofício do sacerdócio, e abençoassem o povo em seu nome.

15Moses consecrated him, and anointed him with holy oil: this was appointed unto him by an everlasting covenant, and to his seed, so long as the heavens should remain, that they should minister unto him, and execute the office of the priesthood, and bless the people in his name.

16Escolheu-o dentre todos os homens viventes para oferecer sacrifícios ao Senhor, incenso e cheiro suave, por memorial, para fazer expiação pelo seu povo.

16He chose him out of all men living to offer sacrifices to the Lord, incense, and a sweet savour, for a memorial, to make reconciliation for his people.

17Deu-lhe os seus mandamentos e autoridade nos estatutos dos juízos, para que ensinasse a Jacó os testemunhos e instruísse Israel nas suas leis.

17He gave unto him his commandments, and authority in the statutes of judgments, that he should teach Jacob the testimonies, and inform Israel in his laws.

18Estranhos conspiraram contra ele, e o difamaram no deserto, a saber, os homens do partido de Datã e de Abirão, e a congregação de Coré, com furor e ira.

18Strangers conspired together against him, and maligned him in the wilderness, even the men that were of Dathan’s and Abiron’s side, and the congregation of Core, with fury and wrath.

19O Senhor viu isto, e desagradou-lhe, e na sua irada indignação foram consumidos; fez prodígios sobre eles, para os consumir com a chama de fogo.

19This the Lord saw, and it displeased him, and in his wrathful indignation were they consumed: he did wonders upon them, to consume them with the fiery flame.

20Mas tornou Arão mais honrado, e deu-lhe uma herança, e repartiu-lhe as primícias dos frutos; especialmente lhe preparou pão em abundância;

20But he made Aaron more honourable, and gave him an heritage, and divided unto him the firstfruits of the increase; especially he prepared bread in abundance:

21pois comem dos sacrifícios do Senhor, que ele deu a ele e à sua descendência.

21For they eat of the sacrifices of the Lord, which he gave unto him and his seed.

22Contudo, na terra do povo ele não teve herança, nem teve porção alguma entre o povo; pois o próprio Senhor é a sua porção e herança.

22Howbeit in the land of the people he had no inheritance, neither had he any portion among the people: for the Lord himself is his portion and inheritance.

23O terceiro em glória é Fineias, filho de Eleazar, porque teve zelo no temor do Senhor e se levantou com bom ânimo de coração, quando o povo se desviou, e fez expiação por Israel.

23The third in glory is Phinees the son of Eleazar, because he had zeal in the fear of the Lord, and stood up with good courage of heart: when the people were turned back, and made reconciliation for Israel.

24Por isso foi feita com ele uma aliança de paz, para que fosse o chefe do santuário e do seu povo, e para que ele e a sua posteridade tivessem a dignidade do sacerdócio para sempre;

24Therefore was there a covenant of peace made with him, that he should be the chief of the sanctuary and of his people, and that he and his posterity should have the dignity of the priesthood for ever:

25conforme a aliança feita com Davi, filho de Jessé, da tribo de Judá, que a herança do rei fosse só para a sua posteridade; assim também a herança de Arão seria para a sua descendência.

25According to the covenant made with David son of Jesse, of the tribe of Juda, that the inheritance of the king should be to his posterity alone: so the inheritance of Aaron should also be unto his seed.

26Deus vos dê sabedoria no vosso coração para julgar o seu povo em justiça, para que os seus bens não sejam abolidos e a sua glória permaneça para sempre.

26God give you wisdom in your heart to judge his people in righteousness, that their good things be not abolished, and that their glory may endure for ever.
