1Não ponhas o teu coração nos teus bens, e não digas: Tenho o bastante para a minha vida.

1Set not thy heart upon thy goods; and say not, I have enough for my life.

2Não sigas o teu próprio pensamento e a tua força, para andares nos caminhos do teu coração;

2Follow not thine own mind and thy strength, to walk in the ways of thy heart:

3e não digas: Quem me pedirá contas das minhas obras? Pois o Senhor certamente vingará a tua soberba.

3And say not, Who shall controul me for my works? for the Lord will surely revenge thy pride.

4Não digas: Pequei, e que mal me aconteceu? Pois o Senhor é paciente, mas de modo algum te deixará impune.

4Say not, I have sinned, and what harm hath happened unto me? for the Lord is longsuffering, he will in no wise let thee go.

5Quanto à expiação, não sejas sem temor, acrescentando pecado a pecado;

5Concerning propitiation, be not without fear to add sin unto sin:

6e não digas: A sua misericórdia é grande; ele se aplacará pela multidão dos meus pecados; pois a misericórdia e a ira vêm dele, e a sua indignação repousa sobre os pecadores.

6And say not His mercy is great; he will be pacified for the multitude of my sins: for mercy and wrath come from him, and his indignation resteth upon sinners.

7Não demores em converter-te ao Senhor, e não adies de dia para dia; pois de repente sairá a ira do Senhor, e na tua segurança serás destruído e perecerás no dia da vingança.

7Make no tarrying to turn to the Lord, and put not off from day to day: for suddenly shall the wrath of the Lord come forth, and in thy security thou shalt be destroyed, and perish in the day of vengeance.

8Não ponhas o teu coração nos bens adquiridos injustamente, pois de nada te aproveitarão no dia da calamidade.

8Set not thine heart upon goods unjustly gotten, for they shall not profit thee in the day of calamity.

9Não joeires com todo vento, nem andes por todo caminho; pois assim faz o pecador de língua dobre.

9Winnow not with every wind, and go not into every way: for so doth the sinner that hath a double tongue.

10Sê firme no teu entendimento, e seja a tua palavra sempre a mesma.

10Be stedfast in thy understanding; and let thy word be the same.

11Sê pronto para ouvir, e seja sincera a tua vida, e com paciência dá a resposta.

11Be swift to hear; and let thy life be sincere; and with patience give answer.

12Se tens entendimento, responde ao teu próximo; se não, põe a mão sobre a boca.

12If thou hast understanding, answer thy neighbour; if not, lay thy hand upon thy mouth.

13Honra e vergonha estão no falar, e a língua do homem é a sua queda.

13Honour and shame is in talk: and the tongue of man is his fall.

14Não sejas chamado murmurador, e não armes ciladas com a tua língua; pois uma vergonha feia cai sobre o ladrão, e uma condenação má sobre a língua dobre.

14Be not called a whisperer, and lie not in wait with thy tongue: for a foul shame is upon the thief, and an evil condemnation upon the double tongue.

15Não sejas ignorante em coisa alguma, grande ou pequena.

15Be not ignorant of any thing in a great matter or a small.
