1Não faças o mal, e nenhum mal te sobrevirá.

1Do no evil, so shall no harm come unto thee.

2Afasta-te do injusto, e a iniquidade se afastará de ti.

2Depart from the unjust, and iniquity shall turn away from thee.

3Meu filho, não semeies nos sulcos da injustiça, e não os colherás sete vezes mais.

3My son, sow not upon the furrows of unrighteousness, and thou shalt not reap them sevenfold.

4Não peças ao Senhor a preeminência, nem ao rei o lugar de honra.

4Seek not of the Lord preeminence, neither of the king the seat of honour.

5Não te justifiques diante do Senhor, e não te gabes da tua sabedoria diante do rei.

5Justify not thyself before the Lord; and boast not of thy wisdom before the king.

6Não procures ser juiz, se não és capaz de tirar a iniquidade, para que em algum momento não temas a pessoa do poderoso e ponhas tropeço no caminho da tua retidão.

6Seek not to be judge, being not able to take away iniquity; lest at any time thou fear the person of the mighty, and lay a stumblingblock in the way of thy uprightness.

7Não ofendas a multidão de uma cidade, e assim não te lançarás por terra no meio do povo.

7Offend not against the multitude of a city, and then thou shalt not cast thyself down among the people.

8Não ates um pecado a outro; pois nem por um só ficarás impune.

8Bind not one sin upon another; for in one thou shalt not be unpunished.

9Não digas: Deus olhará para a multidão das minhas ofertas, e, quando eu oferecer ao Deus altíssimo, ele as aceitará.

9Say not, God will look upon the multitude of my oblations, and when I offer to the most high God, he will accept it.

10Não sejas fraco quando fizeres a tua oração, e não deixes de dar esmola.

10Be not fainthearted when thou makest thy prayer, and neglect not to give alms.

11Não zombes de ninguém na amargura da sua alma; pois há um que humilha e exalta.

11Laugh no man to scorn in the bitterness of his soul: for there is one which humbleth and exalteth.

12Não trames mentira contra teu irmão, nem faças o mesmo ao teu amigo.

12Devise not a lie against thy brother; neither do the like to thy friend.

13Não te acostumes a dizer mentira alguma; pois o seu costume não é bom.

13Use not to make any manner of lie: for the custom thereof is not good.

14Não uses de muitas palavras na assembleia dos anciãos, e não tagareles muito quando orares.

14Use not many words in a multitude of elders, and make not much babbling when thou prayest.

15Não odeies o trabalho penoso, nem a lavoura, que o Altíssimo ordenou.

15Hate not laborious work, neither husbandry, which the most High hath ordained.

16Não te contes entre a multidão dos pecadores, mas lembra-te de que a ira não tardará.

16Number not thyself among the multitude of sinners, but remember that wrath will not tarry long.

17Humilha-te muito; pois o castigo dos ímpios é fogo e vermes.

17Humble thyself greatly: for the vengeance of the ungodly is fire and worms.

18Não troques um amigo por coisa alguma, nem um irmão fiel pelo ouro de Ofir.

18Change not a friend for any good by no means; neither a faithful brother for the gold of Ophir.

19Não deixes uma mulher sábia e boa; pois a sua graça vale mais do que o ouro.

19Forego not a wise and good woman: for her grace is above gold.

20Se o teu servo trabalha com fidelidade, não o maltrates, nem ao jornaleiro que se entrega inteiramente a ti.

20Whereas thy servant worketh truly, entreat him not evil, nor the hireling that bestoweth himself wholly for thee.

21Ame a tua alma o servo bom, e não o prives da liberdade.

21Let thy soul love a good servant, and defraud him not of liberty.

22Tens gado? Cuida dele; e, se te for proveitoso, conserva-o contigo.

22Hast thou cattle? have an eye to them: and if they be for thy profit, keep them with thee.

23Tens filhos? Instrui-os, e dobra-lhes o pescoço desde a juventude.

23Hast thou children? instruct them, and bow down their neck from their youth.

24Tens filhas? Cuida do seu corpo, e não te mostres alegre demais com elas.

24Hast thou daughters? have a care of their body, and shew not thyself cheerful toward them.

25Casa a tua filha, e terás feito uma obra importante; mas dá-a a um homem de entendimento.

25Marry thy daughter, and so shalt thou have performed a weighty matter: but give her to a man of understanding.

26Tens uma mulher segundo o teu coração? Não a abandones; mas não te entregues a uma mulher leviana.

26Hast thou a wife after thy mind? forsake her not: but give not thyself over to a light woman.

27Honra teu pai de todo o teu coração, e não te esqueças das dores de tua mãe.

27Honour thy father with thy whole heart, and forget not the sorrows of thy mother.

28Lembra-te de que foste gerado por eles; e como poderás retribuir-lhes o que fizeram por ti?

28Remember that thou wast begotten of them; and how canst thou recompense them the things that they have done for thee?

29Teme o Senhor com toda a tua alma, e reverencia os seus sacerdotes.

29Fear the Lord with all thy soul, and reverence his priests.

30Ama com todas as tuas forças aquele que te fez, e não abandones os seus ministros.

30Love him that made thee with all thy strength, and forsake not his ministers.

31Teme o Senhor e honra o sacerdote; e dá-lhe a sua porção, como te foi ordenado: as primícias, e a oferta pela culpa, e a oferta das espáduas, e o sacrifício de santificação, e as primícias das coisas santas.

31Fear the Lord, and honor the priest; and give him his portion, as it is commanded thee; the firstfruits, and the trespass offering, and the gift of the shoulders, and the sacrifice of sanctification, and the firstfruits of the holy things.

32E estende a tua mão ao pobre, para que a tua bênção seja completa.

32And stretch thine hand unto the poor, that thy blessing may be perfected.

33A dádiva tem graça diante de todo vivente; e não a negues nem aos mortos.

33A gift hath grace in the sight of every man living; and for the dead detain it not.

34Não deixes de estar com os que choram, e chora com os que choram.

34Fail not to be with them that weep, and mourn with them that mourn.

35Não sejas lento em visitar o enfermo; pois isso te fará ser amado.

35Be not slow to visit the sick: for that shall make thee to be beloved.

36Em tudo o que empreenderes, lembra-te do teu fim, e nunca pecarás.

36Whatsoever thou takest in hand, remember the end, and thou shalt never do amiss.
