Efésios 5

1Portanto, sede imitadores de Deus, como filhos amados;

1Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

2e andai em amor, como também Cristo nos amou, e se entregou por nós como oferta e sacrifício de cheiro suave a Deus.

2And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

3Mas o pecado sexual, e toda impureza ou cobiça, nem mesmo se nomeie entre vós, como convém a santos;

3But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

4nem imoralidades, nem palavras tolas, nem escárnios, que não convêm; em vez disso, atos de gratidão.

4Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

5Pois sabeis disto, que nenhum pecador no sexo, ou impuro, ou ganancioso, que é idólatra, tem herança no reino de Cristo e de Deus.

5For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

6Ninguém vos engane com palavras vazias; pois por essas coisas a ira de Deus vem sobre os filhos da desobediência.

6Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

7Portanto não sejais parceiros deles.

7Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

8Pois antes vós éreis trevas, mas agora sois luz no Senhor; andai como filhos da luz

8For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

9(porque o fruto do Espírito consiste em toda bondade, justiça, e verdade),

9(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

10buscando descobrir o que agrada ao Senhor.

10Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

11E não participeis das obras infrutíferas das trevas, pelo contrário, reprovai-as.

11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

12pois é vergonhoso até dizer o que eles fazem em segredo.

12For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

13Mas todas essas coisas, quando são reprovadas, tornam-se visíveis pela luz, porque tudo o que se torna visível é luz.

13But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

14Por isso se diz: Desperta tu, que dormes, e levanta-te dos mortos, e Cristo te iluminará.

14Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

15Portanto vede cuidadosamente como vos conduzis, não como tolos, mas sim como sábios;

15See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16aproveitai o tempo, porque os dias são maus.

16Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17Por isso, não sejais imprudentes, mas entendei qual é a vontade do Senhor.

17Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

18E não fiqueis bêbados com vinho, em que há devassidão, mas enchei-vos do Espírito;

18And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

19falando entre vós com salmos, hinos e cânticos espirituais; cantando e louvando ao Senhor no vosso coração;

19Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

20agradecendo sempre por tudo a Deus, o Pai, no nome do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo;

20Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

21sujeitando-vos uns aos outros no temor a Deus.

21Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

22Mulheres, sujeitai-vos aos vossos próprios maridos, assim como ao Senhor;

22Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

23porque o marido é o cabeça da mulher, como também Cristo é o cabeça da Igreja, e ele é o salvador do corpo.

23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

24Mas, assim como a Igreja está sujeita a Cristo, assim também as mulheres estejam em tudo sujeitas aos seus próprios maridos.

24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

25Maridos, amai as vossas próprias esposas, assim como também Cristo amou a Igreja, e se entregou por ela;

25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

26a fim de a santificar, havendo a purificado com a lavagem com água, pela palavra,

26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

27a fim de apresentar a si mesmo uma igreja gloriosa, sem mancha, nem ruga, nem algo semelhante; mas sim, santa e irrepreensível.

27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

28Assim os maridos devem amar as suas próprias esposas como os seus próprios corpos. Quem ama a sua esposa, ama a si mesmo;

28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

29pois ninguém jamais odiou a sua própria carne; mas a alimenta e sustenta, assim como também o Senhor à Igreja.

29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

30pois somos membros de seu corpo, da sua carne, e dos seus ossos.

30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

31Por isso o homem deixará oseu pai e a sua mãe, e se ajuntará com a sua mulher; e os dois serão uma só carne.

31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32Esse é um grande mistério, mas estou dizendo quanto a Cristo e à Igreja.

32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

33Assim também vós, cada um individualmente, ame a sua própria esposa como a si mesmo, e a mulher respeite o marido.

33Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
