Epístola de Barnabé 2

1Vendo, pois, que os dias são maus, e que o próprio Ativo tem a autoridade, devemos ter cuidado conosco mesmos e buscar as ordenanças do Senhor.

1Seeing then that the days are evil, and that the Active One himself has the authority, we ought to give heed to ourselves and to seek out the ordinances of the Lord.

2Os auxílios da nossa fé são, pois, o temor e a paciência, e os nossos aliados são a longanimidade e o domínio próprio.

2The aids of our faith then are fear and patience, and our allies are long-suffering and self-restraint.

3Enquanto estes permanecem num espírito puro nas coisas relativas ao Senhor, a sabedoria, o entendimento, a ciência e o conhecimento se alegram com eles.

3While these abide in a pure spirit in matters relating to the Lord, wisdom, understanding, science, knowledge rejoice with them.

4Pois Ele nos deu a conhecer por todos os profetas que não quer nem sacrifícios, nem holocaustos, nem oblações, dizendo em certa ocasião:

4For He hath made manifest to us by all the prophets that He wanteth neither sacrifices nor whole burnt offerings nor oblations, saying at one time;

5Que é para Mim a multidão dos vossos sacrifícios, diz o Senhor? Estou farto de holocaustos, e a gordura de cordeiros e o sangue de touros e de bodes não desejo, ainda que venhais para ser vistos por Mim. Ou quem exigiu estas coisas das vossas mãos? Não continuareis mais a pisar o Meu átrio. Se trouxerdes flor de farinha, é em vão; o incenso é abominação para Mim; as vossas luas novas e os vossos sábados não os posso suportar.

5What to Me is the multitude of your sacrifices, saith the Lord I am full of whole burnt-offerings, and the fat of lambs and the blood of bulls and of goats desire not, not though ye should come to be seen of Me. or who required these things at your hands? Ye shall continue no more to tread My court. If ye bring fine flour, it is in vain; incense is an abomination to Me; your new moons and your Sabbaths I cannot away with.

6Estas coisas, portanto, Ele anulou, para que a nova lei de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, livre do jugo da coação, tivesse a sua oblação não feita por mãos humanas.

6These things therefore He annulled, that the new law of our Lord Jesus Christ, being free from the yoke of constraint, might have its oblation not made by human hands.

7E de novo lhes diz: Ordenei Eu a vossos pais, quando saíram da terra do Egito, que Me trouxessem holocaustos e sacrifícios?

7And He saith again unto them; Did command your fathers when they went forth from the land of Egypt to bring Me whole burnt offerings and sacrifices?

8Não, esta foi a Minha ordem para eles: Que nenhum de vós guarde no coração rancor de mal contra o seu próximo, e não ameis o falso juramento.

8Nay, this was My command unto them, Let none of you bear a grudge of evil against his neighbor in his heart, and love you not a false oath.

9Assim devemos perceber, se não estivermos sem entendimento, a mente da bondade do nosso Pai; pois Ele nos fala, desejando que não nos desviemos como eles, mas que busquemos como nos poderemos aproximar d'Ele.

9So we ought to perceive, unless we are without understanding, the mind of the goodness of our Father; for He speaketh to us, desiring us not to go astray like them but to seek how we may approach Him.

10Assim, pois, Ele nos fala: O sacrifício a Deus é um coração quebrantado, o cheiro de suave aroma ao Senhor é um coração que glorifica o seu Criador. Devemos, pois, irmãos, aprender exatamente a respeito da nossa salvação, para que o Maligno, tendo efetuado em nós uma entrada de erro, não nos lance longe da nossa vida.

10Thus then speaketh He to us; The sacrifice unto God is a broken heart, the smell of a sweet savor unto the Lord is a heart that glorifies its Maker. We ought therefore, brethren, to learn accurately concerning our salvation, lest the Evil One having effected an entrance of error in us should fling us away from our life.
