Ester (Grego) 11

1No quarto ano do reinado de Ptolomeu e Cleópatra, Dositeu, que dizia ser sacerdote e levita, e Ptolomeu, seu filho, trouxeram esta carta de Purim, a qual diziam ser autêntica e ter sido traduzida por Lisímaco, filho de Ptolomeu, que estava em Jerusalém.

1In the fourth year of the reign of Ptolemeus and Cleopatra, Dositheus, who said he was a priest and Levite, and Ptolemeus his son, brought this epistle of Phurim, which they said was the same, and that Lysimachus the son of Ptolemeus, that was in Jerusalem, had interpreted it.

2No segundo ano do reinado de Artaxerxes, o grande, no primeiro dia do mês de Nisã, Mardoqueu, filho de Jair, filho de Simei, filho de Quis, da tribo de Benjamim, teve um sonho.

2In the second year of the reign of Artexerxes the great, in the first day of the month Nisan, Mardocheus the son of Jairus, the son of Semei, the son of Cisai, of the tribe of Benjamin, had a dream;

3Ele era judeu e habitava na cidade de Susã, homem importante, que servia na corte do rei.

3Who was a Jew, and dwelt in the city of Susa, a great man, being a servitor in the king’s court.

4Era também um dos cativos que Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, levara de Jerusalém com Jeconias, rei da Judeia. E este foi o seu sonho:

4He was also one of the captives, which Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon carried from Jerusalem with Jechonias king of Judea; and this was his dream:

5Eis um ruído de tumulto, com trovões e terremotos, e confusão sobre a terra.

5Behold a noise of a tumult, with thunder, and earthquakes, and uproar in the land:

6E eis que dois grandes dragões saíram, prontos para lutar, e o seu clamor era grande.

6And, behold, two great dragons came forth ready to fight, and their cry was great.

7E ao seu clamor todas as nações se prepararam para a batalha, para pelejar contra o povo justo.

7And at their cry all nations were prepared to battle, that they might fight against the righteous people.

8E eis um dia de trevas e escuridão, de tribulação e angústia, de aflição e grande tumulto sobre a terra.

8And lo a day of darkness and obscurity, tribulation and anguish, affliction and great uproar, upon earth.

9E toda a nação justa ficou perturbada, temendo os seus próprios males, e estava prestes a perecer.

9And the whole righteous nation was troubled, fearing their own evils, and were ready to perish.

10Então clamaram a Deus; e ao seu clamor, como de uma pequena fonte, fez-se um grande rio, sim, muita água.

10Then they cried unto God, and upon their cry, as it were from a little fountain, was made a great flood, even much water.

11A luz e o sol se levantaram, e os humildes foram exaltados e devoraram os soberbos.

11The light and the sun rose up, and the lowly were exalted, and devoured the glorious.

12Quando Mardoqueu, que tinha visto este sonho e o que Deus havia determinado fazer, despertou, guardou este sonho no coração, e até a noite desejou de todos os modos entendê-lo.

12Now when Mardocheus, who had seen this dream, and what God had determined to do, was awake, he bare this dream in mind, and until night by all means was desirous to know it.
