1E Mardoqueu repousava no pátio com Gabata e Tarra, os dois eunucos do rei, guardas do palácio.

1And Mardocheus took his rest in the court with Gabatha and Tharra, the two eunuchs of the king, and keepers of the palace.

2E ouviu as suas conversas, e investigou os seus desígnios, e soube que se preparavam para lançar as mãos sobre o rei Artaxerxes; e avisou o rei a respeito deles.

2And he heard their devices, and searched out their purposes, and learned that they were about to lay hands upon Artexerxes the king; and so he certified the king of them.

3Então o rei interrogou os dois eunucos, e, depois que confessaram, foram estrangulados.

3Then the king examined the two eunuchs, and after that they had confessed it, they were strangled.

4E o rei registrou estas coisas, e Mardoqueu também as escreveu.

4And the king made a record of these things, and Mardocheus also wrote thereof.

5E o rei ordenou que Mardoqueu servisse na corte, e por isso o recompensou.

5So the king commanded, Mardocheus to serve in the court, and for this he rewarded him.

6Contudo, Amã, filho de Hamedata, o agagita, que era muito honrado pelo rei, procurou fazer mal a Mardoqueu e ao seu povo por causa dos dois eunucos do rei.

6Howbeit Aman the son of Amadathus the Agagite, who was in great honour with the king, sought to molest Mardocheus and his people because of the two eunuchs of the king.
