Gênesis 4

1E Adão conheceu a sua mulher Eva, a qual concebeu e deu à luz a Caim, e disse: Obtive um homem pelo SENHOR.

1And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

2E depois deu à luz a seu irmão Abel. E foi Abel pastor de ovelhas, e Caim foi lavrador da terra.

2And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

3E aconteceu, decorrendo o tempo, que Caim trouxe do fruto da terra uma oferta ao SENHOR.

3And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

4E Abel trouxe também dos primogênitos de suas ovelhas, e de sua gordura. E olhou o SENHOR com agrado a Abel e à sua oferta;

4And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

5mas não olhou com bons olhos a Caim e à sua oferta. Caim irritou-se muito, e descaiu-lhe o semblante.

5But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

6Então o SENHOR disse a Caim: Por que te irritaste, e por que o teu semblante descaiu?

6And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

7Se bem fizeres, não serás aceito? E se não fizeres bem, o pecado está à porta; contra ti será o seu desejo, porém tu deves dominá-lo.

7If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

8Depois Caim falou a seu irmão Abel; e aconteceu que, estando eles no campo, Caim se levantou contra seu irmão Abel, e o matou.

8And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

9E o SENHOR disse a Caim: Onde está teu irmão Abel? E ele respondeu: Não sei; sou eu guarda do meu irmão?

9And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?

10E ele lhe disse: Que fizeste? A voz do sangue do teu irmão clama a mim desde a terra.

10And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.

11Agora, pois, maldito sejas tu da terra que abriu sua boca para receber o sangue de teu irmão de tua mão:

11And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;

12Quando lavrares a terra, não te voltará a dar sua força: errante e fugitivo serás na terra.

12When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.

13E disse Caim ao SENHOR: Grande é minha iniquidade para ser perdoada.

13And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.

14Eis que me expulsas hoje da face da terra, e de tua presença me esconderei; e serei errante e fugitivo na terra; e sucederá que qualquer um que me achar, me matará.

14Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.

15E respondeu-lhe o SENHOR: Certo que qualquer um que matar a Caim, sete vezes será castigado. Então o SENHOR pôs sinal em Caim, para que não o ferisse qualquer um que o achasse.

15And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

16E saiu Caim de diante do SENHOR, e habitou na terra de Node, ao oriente de Éden.

16And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

17E conheceu Caim a sua mulher, a qual concebeu e deu à luz a Enoque: e edificou uma cidade, e chamou o nome da cidade do nome de seu filho, Enoque.

17And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

18E a Enoque nasceu Irade, e Irade gerou a Meujael, e Meujael gerou a Metusael, e Metusael gerou a Lameque.

18And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.

19E tomou para si Lameque duas mulheres; o nome de uma foi Ada, e o nome da outra Zilá.

19And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.

20E Ada deu à luz a Jabal, o qual foi pai dos que habitam em tendas, e criam gados.

20And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle.

21E o nome de seu irmão foi Jubal, o qual foi pai de todos os que manejam harpa e flauta.

21And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.

22E Zilá também deu à luz a Tubalcaim, feitor de toda obra de bronze e de ferro: e a irmã de Tubalcaim foi Naamá.

22And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.

23E disse Lameque a suas mulheres: Ada e Zilá, ouvi minha voz; Mulheres de Lameque, escutai meu dito: Que matei um homem por ter me ferido, E um rapaz por ter me golpeado:

23And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.

24Se sete vezes será vingado Caim, Lameque em verdade setenta vezes sete o será.

24If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.

25E conheceu de novo Adão à sua mulher, a qual deu à luz um filho, e chamou seu nome Sete: Porque Deus (disse ela) me substituiu outra descendência em lugar de Abel, a quem matou Caim.

25And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

26E a Sete também lhe nasceu um filho, e chamou seu nome Enos. Então os homens começaram a invocar o nome do SENHOR.

26And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.
