Inácio aos Efésios 1

1Inácio, que também é chamado Teóforo, àquela que foi abençoada em grandeza pela plenitude de Deus Pai; que foi predestinada antes dos séculos para ser para sempre para uma glória duradoura e imutável, unida e eleita em verdadeira paixão, pela vontade do Pai e de Jesus Cristo nosso Deus; à igreja que está em Éfeso, digna de toda congratulação: abundante saudação em Cristo Jesus e em alegria imaculada.

1Ignatius, who is also Theophorus, unto her which hath been blessed in greatness through the plentitude of God the Father; which hath been foreordained before the ages to be for ever unto abiding and unchangeable glory, united and elect in a true passion, by the will of the Father and of Jesus Christ our God; even unto the church which is in Ephesus, worthy of all felicitation: abundant greeting in Christ Jesus and in blameless joy.

2Ao acolher em Deus o vosso mui amado nome, o qual possuís por direito natural, em mente reta e virtuosa, mediante a fé e o amor em Cristo Jesus nosso Salvador — sendo imitadores de Deus e tendo os vossos corações inflamados no sangue de Deus, cumpristes perfeitamente a vossa obra condigna —

2While I welcomed in God your well-beloved name which ye bear by natural right, in an upright and virtuous mind, by faith and love in Christ Jesus our Saviour -- being imitators of God, and having your hearts kindled in the blood of God, ye have perfectly fulfilled your congenial work --

3pois quando ouvistes que eu vinha da Síria, preso por causa do Nome e da esperança comuns, esperando mediante as vossas orações alcançar a graça de combater contra as feras em Roma, para que assim obtivesse poder de ser discípulo, fostes solícitos em me visitar: —

3for when ye heard that I was on my way from Syria, in bonds for the sake of the common Name and hope, and was hoping through your prayers to succeed in fighting with wild beasts in Rome, that by so succeeding I might have power to be a disciple, ye were eager to visit me: --

4visto, pois, que em nome de Deus recebi toda a vossa multidão na pessoa de Onésimo, cujo amor excede todo encarecimento e que além disso é vosso bispo na carne — e rogo que o ameis segundo Jesus Cristo e que todos sejais semelhantes a ele; pois bendito é Aquele que vos concedeu, segundo o vosso merecimento, ter tal bispo: —

4seeing then that in God's name I have received your whole multitude in the person of Onesimus, whose love passeth utterance and who is moreover your bishop in the flesh -- and I pray that ye may love him according to Jesus Christ and that ye all may be like him; for blessed is He that granted unto you according to your deserving to have such a bishop: --
