1Sou devotado a vós e àqueles a quem, para a honra de Deus, enviastes a Esmirna; de onde também vos escrevo dando graças ao Senhor, tendo afeto por Policarpo assim como por vós. Lembrai-vos de mim, assim como desejo que Jesus Cristo se lembre de vós.
1I am devoted to you and to those whom for the honour of God ye sent to Smyrna; whence also I write unto you with thanksgiving to the Lord, having love for Polycarp as I have for you also. Remember me, even as I would that Jesus Christ may also remember you.
2Orai pela igreja que está na Síria, de onde sou conduzido prisioneiro a Roma — eu que sou o último dos fiéis dali; segundo fui julgado digno de ser achado para a honra de Deus. Passai bem em Deus Pai e em Jesus Cristo, nossa comum esperança.
2Pray for the church which is in Syria, whence I am led a prisoner to Rome -- I who am the very last of the faithful there; according as I was counted worthy to be found unto the honour of God. Fare ye well in God the Father and in Jesus Christ our common hope.
