Inácio aos Filadélfios 5

1Meus irmãos, o meu coração transborda em amor para convosco; e com imenso júbilo velo pela vossa salvação; contudo não eu, mas Jesus Cristo, cujas cadeias trazendo comigo tanto mais temo, porquanto ainda não sou consumado. Mas a vossa oração me tornará perfeito diante de Deus, para que alcance a herança na qual alcancei misericórdia, acolhendo-me ao Evangelho como à carne de Jesus e aos Apóstolos como ao presbitério da Igreja.

1My brethren, my heart overfloweth altogether in love towards you; and rejoicing above measure I watch over your safety; yet not I, but Jesus Christ, wearing whose bonds I am the more afraid, because I am not yet perfected. But your prayer will make me perfect, that I may attain unto the inheritance wherein I have found mercy, taking refuge in the Gospel as the flesh of Jesus and in the Apostles as the presbytery of the Church.

2Sim, e amamos também os profetas, porque eles também anunciaram o Evangelho em suas pregações, e n'Ele puseram a sua esperança e por Ele esperaram; nos quais também crendo, foram salvos na unidade de Jesus Cristo, sendo dignos de todo amor e admiração como homens santos, aprovados por Jesus Cristo e contados juntamente no Evangelho da nossa comum esperança.

2Yea, and we love the prophets also, because they too pointed to the Gospel in their preaching and set their hope on Him and awaited Him; in whom also having faith they were saved in the unity of Jesus Christ, being worthy of all love and admiration as holy men, approved of Jesus Christ and numbered together in the Gospel of our common hope.
