Inácio aos Magnésios 1

1Inácio, que também é chamado Teóforo, àquela que foi abençoada pela graça de Deus Pai em Cristo Jesus nosso Salvador, em quem saúdo a igreja que está em Magnésia junto ao Meandro, e desejo-lhe abundante saudação em Deus Pai e em Jesus Cristo.

1Ignatius, who is also Theophorus, unto her which hath been blessed through the grace of God the Father in Christ Jesus our Saviour, in whom I salute the church which is in Magnesia on the Maeander, and I wish her abundant greeting in God the Father and in Jesus Christ.

2Ao saber da mui excelente ordem do vosso amor nos caminhos de Deus, enchi-me de júbilo e decidi dirigir-me a vós na fé de Jesus Cristo.

2When I learned the exceeding good order of your love in the ways of God, I was gladdened and I determined to address you in the faith of Jesus Christ.

3Pois, tendo sido julgado digno de levar um nome diviníssimo, nestas cadeias que trago comigo canto o louvor das igrejas; e rogo que haja nelas união da carne e do espírito, que pertencem a Jesus Cristo, nossa vida perene — união de fé e de amor, a qual é preferível a todas as coisas, e, o que é superior a tudo, união com Jesus e com o Pai, no qual, se pacientemente suportarmos todo ultraje do príncipe deste mundo e dele escaparmos, alcançaremos a Deus.

3For being counted worthy to bear a most godly name, in these bonds, which I carry about, I sing the praise of the churches; and I pray that there may be in them union of the flesh and of the spirit which are Jesus Christ's, our never-failing life -- an union of faith and of love which is preferred before all things, and -- what is more than all -- an union with Jesus and with the Father; in whom if we endure patiently all the despite of the prince of this world and escape therefrom, we shall attain unto God.
