Inácio aos Romanos 7

1O príncipe deste mundo quer arrebatar-me e corromper a minha mente voltada para Deus. Nenhum de vós, pois, que estais presentes, tome o partido dele. Antes, permanecei ao meu lado, isto é, ao lado de Deus. Não professeis a Jesus Cristo enquanto desejais o mundo.

1The prince of this world would fain tear me in pieces and corrupt my mind to Godward. Let not any of you therefore who are near abet him. Rather stand ye on my side, that is on God's side. Speak not of Jesus Christ and withal desire the world.

2Não habite a inveja em vós. Mesmo que eu próprio, quando estiver entre vós, vos suplique, não me deis ouvidos; antes crede nestas coisas que vos escrevo. Pois vos escrevo em plena vida, ansiando pela morte. O meu amor terreno foi crucificado, e não há em mim fogo de paixão material, mas uma água viva que fala dentro de mim, dizendo: Vem para o Pai.

2Let not envy have a home in you. Even though I myself, when I am with you, should beseech you, obey me not; but rather give credence to these things which I write to you. For I write to you in the midst of life, yet lusting after death. My lust hath been crucified, and there is no fire of material longing in me, but only water living and speaking in me, saying within me, Come to the Father.

3Não sinto prazer na comida corruptível nem nos deleites desta vida. Desejo o pão de Deus, que é a carne de Cristo, da descendência de Davi; e por bebida quero o Seu sangue, que é o amor incorruptível.

3I have no delight in the food of corruption or in the delights of this life. I desire the bread of God, which is the flesh of Christ who was of the seed of David; and for a draught I desire His blood, which is love incorruptible.
