Jeremias 43

1E sucedeu que, quando Jeremias acabou de falar a todo o povo todas as palavras do SENHOR Deus deles, pelas quais o SENHOR Deus deles tinha o enviado a eles,

1And it came to pass, that when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking unto all the people all the words of the LORD their God, for which the LORD their God had sent him to them, even all these words,

2Então Azarias filho de Hosaías, e Joanã filho de Careá, e todos os homens arrogantes disseram a Jeremias: Tu falas mentira! O SENHOR nosso Deus não te enviou para dizer: Não entreis em Egito para ali peregrinar.

2Then spake Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely: the LORD our God hath not sent thee to say, Go not into Egypt to sojourn there:

3Mas é Baruque filho de Nerias que te incita contra nós, para nos entregar nas mãos dos caldeus, para nos matar ou nos fazer transportar cativos à Babilônia.

3But Baruch the son of Neriah setteth thee on against us, for to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they might put us to death, and carry us away captives into Babylon.

4Assim Joanã filho de Careá, e todos os comandantes dos exércitos, e todo o povo, não obedeceram à voz do SENHOR para ficarem na terra de Judá;

4So Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, obeyed not the voice of the LORD, to dwell in the land of Judah.

5Em vez disse, Joanã filho de Careá, e todos os comandantes dos exércitos, tomaram a todo o restante de Judá, que tinham voltado de todas as nações para onde haviam sido lançados, para morarem na terra de Judá:

5But Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, took all the remnant of Judah, that were returned from all nations, whither they had been driven, to dwell in the land of Judah;

6Homens, mulheres, crianças, as filhas do rei, e a toda alma que Nabuzaradã capitão da guarda tinha deixado com Gedalias filho de Aicã filho de Safã, e também ao profeta Jeremias, e a Baruque filho de Nerias;

6Even men, and women, and children, and the king's daughters, and every person that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah.

7E vieram à terra do Egito, porque não obedeceram à voz do SENHOR; e chegaram até Tafnes.

7So they came into the land of Egypt: for they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: thus came they even to Tahpanhes.

8Então veio a palavra do SENHOR a Jeremias em Tafnes, dizendo:

8Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,

9Toma em tua mão pedras grandes, e as esconde entre o barro no forno que está à porta da casa de Faraó em Tafnes, diante dos olhos de homens judeus,

9Take great stones in thine hand, and hide them in the clay in the brickkiln, which is at the entry of Pharaoh's house in Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah;

10E dize-lhes: Assim diz o SENHOR dos exércitos, Deus de Israel: Eis que eu enviarei, e tomarei a Nabucodonosor rei da Babilônia, meu servo, e porei seu trono sobre estas pedras que escondi; e ele estenderá sua tenda real sobre elas.

10And say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will set his throne upon these stones that I have hid; and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them.

11E ele virá, e ferirá a terra do Egito: os que estão condenados para a morte, à morte; os que para o cativeiro, ao cativeiro, e os que para a espada, à espada.

11And when he cometh, he shall smite the land of Egypt, and deliver such as are for death to death; and such as are for captivity to captivity; and such as are for the sword to the sword.

12E acenderei fogo às casas dos deuses do Egito; e ele as queimará, e os levará cativos; e ele se vestirá da terra do Egito, tal como o pastor se veste de sua capa; e ele sairá de lá em paz.

12And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them, and carry them away captives: and he shall array himself with the land of Egypt, as a shepherd putteth on his garment; and he shall go forth from thence in peace.

13E quebrará as estátuas de Bete-Semes, que fica na terra do Egito, e queimará a fogo as casas dos deuses do Egito.

13He shall break also the images of Bethshemesh, that is in the land of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of the Egyptians shall he burn with fire.
